Adidas - BW Army

Confirming the old adage that less is sometimes more is the unbranded cult Germany Army Trainer known as the BW Army. With a somewhat confusing and ambiguous history what is known is that this iconic model began it's life as a standard issue trainer for the pre-reunification West German military; with it's deliberately understated silhouette proving to be it's biggest asset. This low-key leather sneaker has remained somewhat under the radar for most people but has inspired some of fashion's biggest players such as Maison Margiela, Dior Homme and Adidas; with each of them producing their own versions of the clean silhouette.

Moving on from the luxe paint-splattered, fluorescent, even woven interpretation of the silhouette from Maison Margiela and Dior's Hedi Slimane Adidas have stripped it back to basics. This paired back version is available in two colourways: black and white, with the upper crafted from leather and suede. The model does away with the brand's signature three stripe replacing it with subtle Adidas branding on the side, as well as an embossed tongue and blank heel tab. This all sits atop of a streamlined midsole and traction gum outsole on both colourways.
