Carhartt WIP - Summer 2021: Far South

Image
Set against a backdrop of old towns and countryside roads in post-industrial pockets of France, the campaign film is comprised of a series of short vignettes that swing between meditative and absurd, as three friends in a beat-up old car embark on a road trip with no destination in particular, other than an escape from restless summertime boredom.  Slow in pace and without dialogue, its long, static shots allow the landscape and a series of non-places to act as the key aesthetic markers of the film, untethered to any one specific place or region. Its effect is to capture not so much a narrative, but a feeling, of boundless teenage energy puncturing the tranquility of its sleepy surroundings, and of seemingly trivial moments rendered significant with time.  The campaign is directed by Joaquim Bayle and Sylvain Sey, who first met while working at Carhartt WIP’s store in Lille, France, before going on to establish themselves in Paris as a filmmaker and photograph...

Carhartt WIP - Against the Elements

Image
This week’s product edit from Carhartt WIP includes a blizzard of seasonal pieces, geared to provide warmth in the face of inclement weather. Chunky knitwear features alongside fleece items that provide both texture and pops of colour. A key highlight is the inclusion of our men’s Prentis Liner , executed in Carhartt WIP's classic Hamilton Brown and accented by contrast fabric panelling. A versatile piece, it can be worn as both on its own, as well as layered with other items.  Shop Carhartt WIP here .

This week’s edit from Carharrt WIP focuses on garments geared for winter. Robust parkas are presented alongside Carhartt WIP classics,  and styled with understated mid-layers: The Clash Parka, which is based on a classic M-51 fishtail, is layered here with the Volta Vest Liner. Both items are from their ever-evolving Military program, and are offset by pops of orange adorned with their seasonal real tree camouflage, as well as a staple sweatshirt in a muted off-white colour. The Fairmount Coat is an evolution of their classic Michigan Coat – one of the most archetypally Carhartt WIP garments. In this form, it is lent a sense of seasonality through pile detailing at the collar and a pile-lined body for added warmth. Here, it is worn over an understated corduroy shirt , with loose Newel chino pants and their recent collaboration with Clarks , which saw then rework the iconic Wallabee Boot. The OG Chore Coat is a robust outer layer with a d...
