Herschel - Heritage Backpack

Image
Renowned Vancouver bag specialist Herschel's Heritage Backpack has been a firm favourite with all of us here at Fat Buddha Store for some time and comes in at a great price too. The brand began when in the early 1900's, Peter Alexander Cormack, a barrel maker by trade, and his wife Annie made the journey from Wick, Scotland, crossing the Atlantic to Canada at a time when the government was enticing families to immigrate through the homestead program. After seemingly endless days of travel, the couple settled in the small town of Herschel , whose population today is counted at 30 residents. Founded in 2009 by brothers Jamie and Lyndon Cormack, Herschel Supply Co. adopted the name of the small town where three generations of their family grew up. Herschel Supply Co . is based in Vancouver, Canada and continue to manufacture some of the finest quality backpacks, bags, travel goods and accessories around. The brands Heritage Backpack is Built with the custom red

Vice Magazine - The World Hates You

Image
We have just taken delivery of the new copy of Vice Magazine here at Fat Buddha Store , which comes under the title The World Hates You. The magazine always seems to disappear pretty quickly in our store and seems to be a firm favourite with our shop goers. Vice Magazine started out as a reaction against the humourless, self-righteous posers of the end of the 90s. Originally a black and white fanzine, the magazine is published in 30 countries across the globe, and has grown into a multimedia empire. A conglomerate of writers, photographers, artists and filmmakers, they report first-hand on war, terrorism the environment and how everything is going to hell with as much relish as they do sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll - all served up with a large dose of humour. The magazine also own The Old Blue Last which is a pub / live venue in Shoreditch, East London. Since 2004 they’ve been bringing some of the best forward-thinking bands and DJs seven nights a week, as well a

Music Monday - Boards of Canada!

Image
Edinburgh based electronic music duo Boards of Canada are set to make a welcome return to the music scene with their highly anticipated new album 'Tomorrows Harvest'!   Brothers Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin were born to a musical family and began playing instruments at an early age. The brothers began experimenting with recording techniques in their early teens and were members of various bands respectively, but it wasn't until Mike invited his brother Marcus to join his band that Boards of Canada was born. The band was eventually whittled down to just Marcus and Mike and despite doing various collaborations and projects during the early 90's, their first official release wasn't until 1995 with the Twoism EP. The duo released a few more EP's before the release of their debut album 'Music Has The Right To Children' in 1998, which gained widespread critical acclaim, being named as one of Pitchfork's 100 Best Albums of the 90's and on

Although the jokes may be tired and the story is repetitive, theres still one reason to go and see Hangover 3, and that reason is Heather Graham! The american actress reprises her role as Jade in the final film of the Hangover trilogy. Heather Graham has been regarded as a sex symbol for many years now and that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon! JR Brings Art To Rikers Island New York City

Image
French artist and photographer JR shown above in his NYC studio is renowned for his large black-and-white photographic images in public locations, and his latest work in New York City notorious Rikers Island prison makes no exception. The prison is located on an island in the East River between Queens and the Bronx. His large-scale wheatpasted work depicts a large eye of an inmate who in JR’s own words “wanted me to choose his eye looking left as life in jail is all about watching your back. He came out in the jail yard when we were pasting. He’s 18-years-old, it’s his second time in jail. Even if no one will recognize his eye he knows he’s part of a bigger picture.” You can check out some pics below. JR has lots of great shows in various galleries around New York at present, so if you happen to be their you should go check out his work. We have lots of great books and magazines available in Fat Buddha Store covering Graffiti , Urban art , architecture and much more
