Eco & Ethics Spotlight - Baxter of California

Image
What’s the difference between recycling and upcycling? Recycling means taking waste and turning it into something else. Upcycling is taking an existing item and reusing it in a different way. In celebration of Earth Day, Baxter of California discovered hacks on how you can tackle upcycling your favorite products. Baxter of California Candles, available in WhiteWood , BlackOak and SweetAsh , will last you 45 hours of burn time – but you can keep their strong glass jars around even longer. After you’ve enjoyed your candle to the last drop of wax, put in freezer and then gently tap out the remaining wax at bottom of glass. Fill with your favorite small house plant or even use as a toothbrush holder. Upcycling at its best! Clay Pomade remains a customer-favorite, but did you know it’s adored by succulents as well? After you’ve scooped out your last bit of pomade, gently rinse out the jar with water and create a new home for mini cacti and plants. If you’re looking to

Saucony Aya - White/Purple/Orange

Image
Saucony’s Aya sneaker first hit the market in 1994 as one of the brand’s proprietary running options, so it’s only fitting that the retro sneaker will be getting its revival as the ’90s trend of today continues to infiltrate the industry. The Aya — which translates to “run swiftly” — features a lightweight lowtop silhouette and a paneled construction along the upper, which is crafted of mesh and leather. For the upcoming release, purple underlays are pitted against bright orange details, including the Saucony stripe on the side panel, the laces and the collar lining. White overlays on the toecap and back heel give it a neutral touch, while speckled details on the midsole offer a subtle, paint-splattered effect. A colorblocked outsole finishes it off. Carhartt WIP - Spring/Summer 2019 by Chndy & Chebmoha

Image
For the Carhartt WIP Spring/Summer 2019 Campaign, Middle Eastern photography duo Chndy & Chebmoha traveled to Tunisia – a place where Chebmoha spent his summers as a child, between the northern coast of Sousse and the southern island of Djerba. This latest project sought to rekindle that connection. Together, they explored Cape Angela, one of the northernmost points of Africa, the cliffs that overlook the Mediterranean waters of El Haouaria, and Tunis, the nation’s capital. They didn’t plan on staying for three weeks, but did so – spending two of them pleading incessantly with Tunisian customs officers to release their baggage. What most would view as a nuisance turned out to be an enriching experience. That time was spent developing relationships with others – a mix of old friends and new ones, whom they’d connected with on the internet. Their backgrounds’ varied, including writers, painters, and the owner of a recently-launched almond milk business.
