Brand Profile - Kleman

Image
Here at Fat Buddha Store we are thrilled to welcome our latest brand; fine French shoemaker Kleman . In this blog post we will go over the storied history of the brand and how they came to define modern footwear.  A shoemaker and bootmaker by trade, René Cléon joined the front lines during the Second World War. He was taken prisoner in 1940 during the Battle of France and spent 5 years in captivity in a Stalag in Germany, where he continued to model small leather shoes in his spare time. Probably hoping to be back soon to his homeland, the idea of launching his shoe manufacturing workshop is gradually growing. At the end of the war in 1945, in the weeks following his return, he formed a team of apprentices and bought his first stitching and assembly machines. The story begins in the family home in La Romagne, with a specialization on Kneipp sewn mixed models, then the business grows and a factory is built. The sons Jacques and Louis-Marie took up the torch and diversified t

Solavair Leather Explained

Image
We are often asked the difference between the various types of leather used to manufacture Solovair . Here they have presented a brief summary of their finishes and basic care tips suited for each leather type to help you find your ideal shoe or boot. All Solovair leather footwear is made from bovine leather, specifically cowhide. This is the most abundant leather type that is used by premium leather goods brands. With the exception of Horween Chromexcel leather (which is sourced from the USA), all our leathers are sourced from European tanneries and cattle. Bovine leather offers maximum value for money in terms of durability, elegance and texture. It is also water and abrasion resistant; but is not ‘waterproof’.  The majority of Solovair boots (including our bestselling Black 8 Eye Derby Boots ) are made using smooth corrected leather. Corrected leather is created by splitting full-grain leather, buffing or sanding the grain surface to remove marks or imperfections, an

Nike - React Element 55 'Anthracite'

Image
Following the “ Schematic ” iteration of its React Element 55, Nike is back with a brand new colourway. This time around, the American footwear giant has given the silhouette a sleek “Anthracite/Blue Fury” makeover, adding bright teal accents atop ashy black uppers. Starting at the top of the shoe, bright teal bubblegum highlights are placed along leather eyelet panels, complemented by sleek round laces that come in a lighter shade. The striking palette is continued over the diagonal seam at the rear quarter as well as the leather backstay. In contrast to the bold embellishments, sleek black textiles appear throughout the body, rounded out by taped edges and tonal cut-out Swooshes — other accents include “nike react” branding stamped at the corner of the angular tongue and a wine-color rubber overlay around the heel. All of these details sit above an essential React midsole, equipped with rubber pods for added durability and traction. The Nike React Element 55 “Anthra

Nike SB Zoom Blazer Mid Edge - Laserblue/Watermelon (Hack Pack)

Image
Nike SB has been pushing out innovative and appealing product over the course of the past few months, and the latest release to join in the festivities is the SB Blazer Mid Edge — which has been chopped up to create a new “Hack Pack” style. Arriving in “Laser Blue/Watermelon” this in-line design draws its cues from popular Nike collaborators like Off-White and sacai for a perfectly imperfect deconstructed look. Uppers are constructed of a sturdy and classic canvas, the “Laser Blue/Watermelon” opts for a vibrant mix of neon-adjacent hues. The lateral Swoosh is absent from its usual perch on the midfoot, with nothing more than loose threads showing where it would usually be placed. However, it’s not gone completely. If you look at these Blazer Mid Edges from the top down, you’ll notice that this Swoosh has been juxtaposed onto the toebox, where it cleverly serves as an asymmetrical mudguard. It’s then secured by another triangular-shaped overlay that hangs down from the b

Carhartt WIP - Spring/Summer 2020 Lookbook

Image
Carhartt WIP isn’t particularly interested in today’s leading trends or the fanfare around such fleeting fads, but rather only concerned with making good, quality clothing. As such, the brand has adopted a no-nonsense approach throughout its Spring/Summer 2020 collection, recently sharing a sporty lookbook full of practical pieces that are marked by subtle design updates and innovative details. To showcase the goods, Carhartt WIP called upon a few artistic figures to star in the campaign, tapping DJs Courtesy and Vic Creeze, curator Tabitha Thorlu-Bangura and musician Oko to model the looks. The silhouettes presented are grounded in utilitarian influences and crafted in various durable fabrications, including sturdy cotton canvas and a GORE-TEX coating on select outerwear styles for an extra layer of protection. The color palette is equally as minimalistic as the garments themselves, with shades of forest green, khaki, orange and black dominating the assortment
