California-based outdoor imprint Patagonia has long been known for its efforts towards fighting climate change and reducing waste. From refusing to deal with certain Wall Street companies that they deem “ecologically damaging” to being ranked as one of the world’s most transparent brands, Patagonia has done its fair share for the environment, so it comes as no surprise that for its latest Black Hole Bag range, the company has once again made significant progress towards saving the environment: by recycling 10 million plastic bottles to craft the bags. The astronomical amount of plastic bottles were up-cycled and used in the 100-percent-recycled body fabric and webbing of the bags, which are all highly-durable and water-resistant. The 25 carrying options offered range from wheeled duffel bags and tote packs to backpacks and hip packs, and most models come in a variety of color options. After both suing President Donald Trump and launching an activism platform in the name of environmental causes, Patagonia continues its progressive activities by unveiling a new film centered around the threats facing the Balkan rivers. Blue Heart aims to garner protection for the rivers, showcasing the dams that threaten the wildlife, environment and local people. Over €700 million EUR (nearly $870 million USD) has been poured into the construction of dams in the area, with local governments garnering cash off the back of efforts to channel hydropower energy. According to Patagonia , the dams aren’t clean or efficient, and will only upset the delicate balance of nature in the Balkan Peninsula. This week's outfit grid is a more dressed and mature look with pieces some of our favourite heritage brands. American imprint Filson have been making finely crafted menswear pieces since 1897 and it shows in the quality of this Short Mile Marker Jacket. Constructed using only the finest materials this jacket has a water-resistant dry waxed cotton shell and is fully lined with feather cloth at the body and twill in the sleeves so it will protect you from the British weather. This iconic American workwear silhouette sits at the hip with several large pockets adorning it. This week's outfit grid is a laid back summer look full of sun-bleached pastel shades and summer ready pieces. Lets start the look with a summer essential... shorts. While the weather hasn't exactly been short appropriate the last couple of days we're staying confident that sunshine is just round the corner and if not holiday season is. These ones from Patagonia are great, not only do they look fresh as hell thanks to the slick dusty blue colourway they're also the perfect shape; not too short, not too long and neither too baggy nor too tight. One of this season's defining brands for us has been American outdoor-wear masters Patagonia .
