  PENFIELD HAS ALWAYS BEEN BUILT FOR LIFE IN THE OPEN, FROM THE NOISE OF THE CITY TO THE WILDERNESS OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS. In Hudson, Massachusetts, a private company known as Penfield was founded to manufacture outdoor clothes. Harvey Gross, a native of New England who founded the business in 1975, is known for producing down-filled jackets, fleece, and outerwear. In the 1980s, Penfield swiftly established itself as a favourite among many Americans after its 1975 launch. Penfield has expanded its business into a variety of retail channels, such as Barneys, Saks, and a number of independent stores throughout the world, in addition to outdoor outlets. The brand has a lengthy history of developing private labels and unusual collaborations. Down-filled clothing for LL Bean, EMS, Lands End, and Cabelas has been produced in the Cape Heights factory that formerly made Penfield items. Another year has almost passed so were are going to look back at some our favorite sneakers and instore drops from the last year. Take a look at our selection below and let us know what you think: Nike Air Max 90 QS - Escape Pack One of the most recent drops on our list is the Nike Air Max QS "Escape" pack which consisted of an Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and a Nike Internationalist Mid. Our favorite from the pack had to be the Air Max 95 silhouette which was given the luxury treatment with plush leather uppers in a rich autumn palette of browns and oranges. The shoe is of course finished off with your standard Air Max 90 essentials like a mudguard and visible air sole unit. We still have limited stock left of the 90 here so get on it if you liked them as much as we did. Saucony add to their renaissance of late with another sterling collaborative effort this time with fellow Boston based brand Penfield for their 2014 Holiday "60/40" pack. This latest collab combines Penfield's outdoor aesthetic with Saucony's Shadow Original shape to create a sneaker more akin to a hiking shoe. The shoe is constructed from Penfield's 60/40 Cotton Nylon, from which the pack takes it's name, and suede making for stronger longer lasting uppers. The midsole is made of polyurethane for strength and features Saucony's padded collar and tongue for comfort. The pack comes in three seasonal hues of tan, navy and olive finishing off the outdoor aesthetic. The pack will drop instore this Saturday followed by an online drop on the 2nd of December here so don't miss your chance to pick up a pair. Heres a sneeky lil preview from 'Bread & Butter 09' of the bags that the label will be releasing later this year. Similar to the Pendleton fabrics, Penfield went out and dug deep to create their own fabric and pattern. The outcome is an authentic range of messenger bags and backpacks, featuring the new fabric.
