Image
Up and coming producer Clams Casino is the focus of Music Monday this week! More commonly known as Clams Casino or Clammy Clams, Mike Volpe is an Italian-American electronic musician and hip hop producer from Nutley, New Jersey. He started gaining recognition after contacting Lil B and sending him a variety of instrumentals which he utilised on many of his mixtapes. His production often samples spacey female voices—such as Björk, Janelle Monáe, Adele, or Imogen Heap and has received acclaim from The Needle Drop and Pitchfork , the latter of which ranked his first mixtape, 'Instrumentals', as one of the top-50 records of 2011. He has since gained further recognition because of his work for the likes of ASAP Rocky, Mac Miller, The Weeknd and XV amongst others and this week he released a collaboration track with underground hip hop legend DOOM titled 'Bookfiend' which you can check out below. This looks set to be a big year for Clams Casino...

Music Monday - Flatbush Zombies!

Image
If you're like me, you like your hip hop to involve grimy beats, obscure lyrics, weird dudes and a significant tinge of weed and alcohol induced craziness, then Flatbush Zombies will be right up your street. Coming from the eclectic hotbed of music that is Brooklyn, Flatbush Zombies consists of the wild trio of Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Eric Arc Elliot. The group appeared as if from nowhere last year with the internet smash video for 'Thug Waffle', which saw them do what they do best, spit hard bars, smoke weed and eat waffles! Since 'Thug Waffle', the group have only got bigger, with the release of their first mixtape 'D.R.U.G.S' and collaborations with the likes of Kilo Kish, ASAP Mob and A-Trak under their belts, the Zombies are gonna be ones to watch in 2013! Check out their video for the newest single MRAZ above, then head over to their Twitter and download 'D.R.U.G.S'!

Music Monday - Asap Rocky

This Saturday ASA P Rocky will be bringing his live show to Glasgow for the first time, when he plays The Arches. The Harlem born and raised rapper/video director has been surfing a huge wave of success since the release of the mixtape LiveLoveAsap in 2011 and has really brought something new to the hip hop table. ASAP Rocky and his crew ASAP Mob are unlike any rappers you have seen before, he has a flow and speed that sounds straight out of L.A while the beats they make and use are from producers you would not normally associate with this genre, resulting in a sound that is unique and fresh in a scene that has been needing a change. Add to this you have the whole crew's passion for male fashion and grooming, they all like to dress in the latest catwalk collections such as Rick Owens and Comme des garcons. He wants to be more than just another rapper, he wants to be a fashion icon, mixing streetwear with fashion to create a look on a rapper we have never seen before. His n...
