Music Monday - Public Enemy in Glasgow!
Music Monday this week celebrates the rebellious hip hop pioneers Public Enemy, without a doubt one of the most influential and important musical acts of all time. This year sees the 25th anniversary of the group originally consisting of MC's Chuck D, Flavor Flav and Professor Griff alongside legendary DJ Terminator X. This year also see's the group inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside contemporaries such as Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, The Beastie Boys and Run DMC. Known for their politically charged lyrics and ferocious activism through their music, Public Enemy released their first album 'Yo! Bumrush the Show' to much critical acclaim, but it wasn't until 1988 and the release of 'It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back' that mainstream success beckoned.
