Music Monday - King Krule!

If you haven't heard the name King Krule over the past week or so, then you must have been living under a rock! The just-turned-19 year old singer has become the darling of the blogosphere with the release of his first studio album, '6 Feet Beneath The Moon', with critics likening his sound to that of Edwyn Collins and Morrissey. Its been 3 years since King Krule released his first single 'Out Getting Ribs', but it looks as if right now the rest of the music world is beginning to realise that he is something special, with nominations to the BBC Sound Of 2013 poll and rumoured collaborations with Frank Ocean in the works. King Krule's young life has not been easy though, after refusing to attend school, he was given a home tutor and subsequently sent to two centres for the permanently excluded, he also suffered from insomnia and was put through rigorous tests for mental illness at London's Maudsley Hospital. Music Monday - Dinosaur Jr.!

Legendary alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. have influenced many of the greatest bands that emerged in the 90's and 00's such as Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Kyuss, but lets not forget that Dinosaur Jr. are so influential because they make great music! Formed in the mid-80's amongst the DIY hardcore punk movement of the era, a movement which founding Dinosaur Jr. members J.Mascis and Lou Marlow had very much been a part of in their punk band Deep Wound which split in 1984, Mascis and Marlow took their punk sensibilities but applied them to an altogether more melodic and mellower sound. The duo, joined by drummer Emmet 'Murph' Murphy, have since went on to experience many trials and tribulations over the years as Dinosaur Jr., a history that has seen 10 albums, a breakthrough into the UK charts in the early 90's, seen both Emmet Murphy and Lou Marlow leave the band and reunite, seen J.Mascis release critically acclaimed solo material and some ch...
