One of Glasgow's most loved parties Sensu turns 9 tonight (Friday 25th Oct) at the world famous Sub Club in Glasgow. Kicking things off back in the Q club in 2004 residents Barry Price & Junior moved onwards and upwards to the long winding steps of the Liquid Lounge. However, their aspiration was always to host Sensu in their favourite place in the world, The Sub Club . Luckily they were given that chance! For their first night in the Sub club they booked Lawrence & Mr C, everything went better than they could of imagined and since then they have tried to bring a sound to Glasgow that excites themselves and hopefully everyone who has supported them in the past 9 years. Having already been praised in write ups from The Guardian , this night has been difficult to keep a secret as the one and only DJ Funk, master of the booty, has came to grace the booth at La Cheetah for a single night of mayhem. Motor City Electronics is back tonight (Friday 22nd Feb) They did originally plan for this to be a four part series but there's just so much they didn't cover over the four nights at the tail end of last year. For their first MCE night of 2013 they have none other than the turntable wizard that is Terrence Parker. As many of you will know Terrence was supposed to headline their Hogmanay party. He couldn't make it due to illness and was utterly gutted he had to cancel on them. He promised he would reschedule the date at the first opportunity and they were delighted he was able to do it so quickly. Terrence Parker has been honing his skills on the turntables for over 30 years and is easily one of the finest DJ's on the planet. This Saturday sees Henrik Schwarz debut his renowned Live Show at the Sub Club for Subculture with support as ever from Harri & Dom. Hailing from South Germany and now based in Berlin, Henrik Schwarz has travelled around the globe with his live show which he has built on over the years resulting in him becoming one of the most in demand live acts in electronic music. As well as releases on a number of labels such as Sunday-Music and MOODMUSIC he is also known for his remixes of countless artists ranging from Michael Jackson to DJ HELL. Throughout the years of touring and his countless releases, remixes and work on the Innervisions with Ame and Dixon he has perfected the Henrik Schwarz Live Show which is now renowned for its energy as well as mysterious musicality. Tonight La Cheetah Club plays host to Detroit based house/techno legend Theo Parrish. Theo has been releasing his own distinctive sound that is made up of a blend of Chicago house and elements of Detroit Techno with influences from jazz, hip-hop, funk and disco for almost two decades now. Graduating from the Chicago Academy of the Arts and going on to receive his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1994. Growing up he was heavily influenced by jazz artists such as Miles Davis and Nina Simone, and also stated in a Red Bull Music Academy interview that Stevie Wonder was the beginning of his musical education. As well as releases on Moodyman's KDJ he has released on Sound Signature the label he runs himself which has also seen releases from the likes of Redshape, Kyle Hall, Roman Flugel amongst many many others.
