--> I f you have lived in Glasgow for long enough you may remember the gargantuan Borders book store which used to occupy a vast 2 storey building in the middle of Buchanan street. It was here that resided one of the most varied book and magazine collections in the city catering for a wealth of niche markets which would attract people from all sorts of sub cultures and with all kinds of interests. Unfortunately the haven closed its doors back in 2009 and left a proverbial hole in the heart of Glasgow's literature obsessed. --> The silver lining to this loss was there was now space in the previously fortified market for independents to step up and fill the void, cue Fat Buddha accepting the challenge and acquiring distribution rights to some of the top publications from around the globe. They have been some amazing street art in the last while, but one to impress us at Fat Buddha Store has to be from Berlin-based street artist Evol who transforms city blocks, power boxes, walls and many other public structures into micro apartment buildings as part of his ongoing  Buildings  series. Evol carefully maps out each unique urban project by using stencils to mimic the gridded windows and balconies that normally make up an apartment building’s facade. The artist’s extremely detailed miniature apartment buildings often include varied compositions of satellite dishes and diverse window fixtures. Some of the “windows” even have curtains while others are left bare. You can check out some of his great work below. One of our favourite magazines VNA (Very Nearly Almost) has just arrived through the door at Fat Buddha Store. Issue 21 is packed with great features including a cover shot of Miss Van doing what she does best, yip you guessed it, painting. This issue also features Inkie, DAL & Faith47, Rone and much more. For anyone not familiar with the magazine, VNA is a UK-based independent magazine printed quarterly which features interviews with some of the world’s best urban artists, illustrators and photographers.
