The biggest 'The Hundreds' fan we have in the shop is Joel, so much so we call him Joel Hundreds! He's always first in line to get his hands on any new stock we get in and he is well on his way to getting to a hundred Hundreds....that's some going in anyones book. Joel was kind enough to let me take a pic of him with his latest purchase . He also snapped up one of The Hundreds tees we had on sale - get yourself to the shop or check out what we've got left online. Check out The Hundreds blog for more info about the company, their latest products and the lifestyle of Bobby Hundreds and co. Thanks again Joel and we're glad to have you as one of our most loyal customers.

La Reine Margot

Image
Sunday night and the TV was up to its usual standard, had a browse through some DVD's i haven't seen in a while and came across this classic, i remembered how beautiful Isabelle Adjani was, it has been a few years since i seen this film, and it did not disappoint, as good as i remembered. So if you are looking for a good French subtitled film, watch La Reine Margot. Alexandre Dumas should certainly be satisfied with this superb adaptation of his classic. The setting is excellent and it gives a wonderful image of 16th century France. Naturally the highlight of the movie is the re-enactment of the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre. The horrendous scenes of the murders in all their crudity are terrific. The actors did a wonderful job here. Isabelle Adjani is, as usual, terrific. Her nude scenes, depicting the queen's adultery, lust and incestuous affairs are acted in such a way that they are a form of art. Vincent Perez is in one of his best roles - his interpre...

Blek le Rat

Image
For all those who have never heard of him, Blek le Rat is the godfather of stencil graffiti. He has been painting stencils on the street almost as long as guys like Banksy and Shephard Fairey have been alive! Even Banksy acknowledges the influence that Blek has had on his work, (in)famously quoted as saying  "every time I think I've painted something slightly original, I find out that Blek Le Rat has done it as well, only twenty years earlier." Here's a little vid of the man talking about the more famous version of himself... Here's some work from the early eighties right up to 2009. If you want to read more about this guy, get hold  of a copy of his book. We've got a copy in our shop on Bath Street, Glasgow. While your in the shop, you can pick up all the art materials you need to become the next Blek le Rat, Banksy , Shephard Fairey or why not put your come up with a style of your own and maybe somebody will be influenced by you twen...

RIP Dennis Hopper

Sad to hear another legend has passed away. The actor Dennis Hopper was best known for his roles in films like Apocalypse Now and Easy Rider (two films everybody should see at least once!). Away from the silver screen, Hopper was a lover of modern art, you can see the passion he has for it in the film below. Long may his memory live on...

My Favourite Things (pt.2- Taylor)

Image
Taylor is the latest Fat Buddha recruit, but in the 6 weeks since he arrived he has helped get the stock room catalogued from front to back and is now working on various web site related tasks (he's a bit of a tecchy whizz kid!). Anyway, here is some of his favourite things from the shop.... Taylor likes Metal music, which has influenced a couple of picks me thinks. You can see the inspiration from classic metal graphics on the latest Hundreds tee and Carhartt skate decks we got in. We've got loads of art and design books in the shop, Taylor likes most of them! His love of comics means that a book on 60 Years of Manga is one right up his street. He also chose the Addict Camobot (by Mr. Jago) that we've had for a while but is still loved by vinyl figure fans from all over the world. And we now know why Leslie likes Taylor so much.....he's the only one in the shop that likes KISS just as much as him! His final choice is therefore a no-brainer.... the Gene Simmo...

Henk Hofstra's Invasion of the Ants

Image
Here we have another cracker from the ever brilliant wooster collective , this piece would look great in any city. About 500 red ants are spread in the city of Drachten, The Netherlands. Most of them came together in front of the theatre De Lawei, to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Each ant is three meters in length and two meters wide. The ants on the building are from synthetic material. More from Henk here . As usual for all your Spray Paint Supplies , please visit the webstore .

The Magic Rolling Board

Spongebob Squarepants TY Beanies

Image
Latest product at the fat buddha store is the Spongebob Squarepants TY Licensed soft toys . These cool toys come in 2 sizes and are priced at £6.99 for the small one and £11.99 for the larger one. SpongeBob SquarePants is an extremely energetic and optimistic sea sponge (although his appearance more closely resembles a kitchen sponge ) who lives in a pineapple under the sea with his pet snail Gary , who meows like a cat . Although Gary only speaks in a few episodes, the characters have shown an ability to understand him. Living two houses down from SpongeBob is his best friend Patrick Star , a dim-witted yet friendly pink starfish who lives under a rock . Living between the two is Squidward Tentacles , an arrogant and egotistical squid who lives in a moai and dislikes his neighbors (especially SpongeBob) for their child-like behavior. He enjoys playing the clarinet and painting self-portraits. Another close friend of SpongeBob's is Sandy Cheeks , a squirre...

Maisie - Fat Buddha Store Dog

This is Maisie, the Fat Buddha Shop dog, just trying to figure out how camcorders and all that editing stuff work, blah blah blah, anyway's if you are passing by the store, pop instore and give her a clap and a dog biscuit.

My Favourite Things

Image
The thing about working in Fat Buddha is the amount of temptation around you day in and day out! I think it's the same for all the staff in here and a lot of staff wages get recirculated back in to the shop on pay day. Here's some of my favourite things in the shop at the moment. Loving the Dunny Fatale series - it's probably the best one since the French ones a few years back. I tried out some Krink ink a couple of weeks back and even though they are a bit more expensive than others, they're worth every penny! Montana Gold Paint is also keeping me happy at the moment. The fluoro colours look hot against black or dark colours. There's also about fifty or sixty books from the shop that I have on my 'to get' list. The one which I 'NEED' is Obey Supply and Demand (20th Anniversary Edition). Anyway, better get back to it or I won't get paid and won't be able to get all these things.

Sharpie Inspiration

Image
I was telling somebody the other day about the various applications for Sharpie Markers and mentioned the pic that was going about the web a couple of years back (the Sharpie Lamborghini). What an inspired bit of marketing that was! It took two weeks and was covered with a clear lacquer to keep it intact. I suppose it would help you stand out from all the other Lambo's on the road. I was checking out the sharpie blog and they've got loads of different things sharpified (I don't think that's a real word). Here's some of my favourites. and one for Star Wars loving Leslie...

Angelus Leather Paint - An Example

Image
Anyone who uses leather paint uses Angelus Leather Paint , WHY ???? i hear you ask, well just take a look at this bag that Paul Holden painted Orange to match his Flymo bike. Paul dropped us an email and he loved the product, he wrote "Hi there, I just thought I’d drop you a line to say how please I am with your leather paint! I’ve recently customised my bike in a “nice” black and orange colour scheme to go with my Flymo nickname and using your paint to paint the tank bag has made it match really well. Feel free to use these pictures for marketing if you want. All the best. Paul" We are the only UK stockist of Angelus Leather Paint , and are always amazed at the diversity of its uses, for a product we imported to customise sneakers, its gone way beyond that now and if you have some work photgraphed please send us the images and we will post them up to let other aspiring crafts people show their work. So, to sum it up, Angelus has a great many uses, from Jacket...

Spongebob Beanies

Image
When Leslie told me about Spongebob Squarepants I didn't believe him....a sea sponge who is a chef at the Krusty Krab, whose best friend is a pink starfish called Patrick Star! To my surprise, he was not kidding! Not only is it a real cartoon character, but apparently he's quite popular with kids and adults alike! Anyway...we got in these plush figures of Spongebob Squarepants and his Starfish friend. They are made by TY and are top quality soft toys. I still don't know what to make of them, but the customers seem to love the beanies in the shop and the bearbrick Spongebob in our online store .
