Music Monday - Nicolas Jaar!
This weeks Music Monday is gifted musician, producer and DJ Nicolas Jaar! 23 year old Nicolas Jaar was born in New York in 1990, but spent much of his early childhood in his father's native country of Chile before moving back to New York. When Jaar was 14, he heard an album by electronic music legend and fellow Chilean, Ricardo Villalobos, and he was completely taken by the sound and feelings that the music evoked. So much so that he decided to try his hand at making music of his own. Fast forward to January 2011 and the release of Jaar's first album 'Space is Only Noise' which garnered massive critical acclaim, ranking as the best album of the year by Resident Advisor and Mixmag, receiving an 8.4 score from Pitchfork and 4 stars from The Guardian.
