We all know and love Janoskis, Kostons and P-Rods, we've all grown up with Vans and Converse, but have you ever really taken a minute and thought about how skate shoes have came to be what they are today? Made For Skate - The Illustrated History of Skateboard Footwear tells the story of the evolution of the skate shoe, with insight from people who helped to not only popularise skating and the culture behind it, but shaped the future of skate shoe technology and fashion.   All the big skate names you would expect are featured in the book, from Etnies to Vans, from Airwalk to Duffs and it also features many one-of-a-kind shoes that were released through the nearly five decade history of skating.   A host of your favourite skaters are featured in the book including Stacy Peralta, Lance Mountain, Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, Natas Kaupas, Don Brown, Paul Rodriguez, Chad Muska, Mike Vallely, Adrian Lopez, Mark Gonzalez, Tim Gavin, and many more....

Nike SB celebrates it's 10th anniversary this year, and what better way to celebrate than with the help from the guys at Made For Skate. The exhibition is named 10 Years of Nike SB – Delivered from the Future in a Cardboard Box  and celebrates the iconic shoes, the constant innovative design approach, as well as the artists and riders that shaped the brands unique history. Held at Nike Sixth and Mill skate park in downtown Los Angeles, the event saw its opening reception last saturday featuring The Blackouts (Atiba and Ako Jefferson), who provided a solid set of tunes for the evening. Shown below is a video with an interview with Jürgen Blümlein, co-Author of the Made For Skate book and curator of Berlin Skateboard Museum, who shares his thoughts on Nike ’s ongoing collaborative sneaker projects. The exhibition runs until early next year.
