New York Underbelly Project

Image
Deep in the belly of New York ’s subway system, a beautiful untouched station resides that has been forgotten for years with only a limited few knowing of its existence. Stunning decoration with tall tiled arches, brass fixtures and skylights run across the entire curve of the station, almost a miniature imitation of Grand Central Station.  The station was opened in 1904, with the hope of making it the crowning glory of the New York subway system in elegant architecture and a place for commemorative plaques to honour the work that had resulted in such a successful underground mass transit system. It was to be the original southern terminus of the first ‘Manhattan Main Line, however the station was closed and boarded up in 1945. Kaws - "Ohhh..." Exhibition at KaiKai Kiki Gallery

Image
One of our favourite artists here at Fat Buddha Store is New York City's Kaws . We posted recently about his 16 foot Companion sculpture arriving at Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station to be put on show. His new exhibition has opened at the KaiKai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo. The Brooklyn artist presents an entire new body of canvas work, including many different sized paintings. His trademark characters and styles are mixed in new ways, resulting in an exciting new body of work, while staying true to what he is best known for. You can check out some pics below. The show will continue to run until the 29th May and includes all of the artwork shown above. We have very limited stock of Medicom's Kaw's Bus Stop 1 and Kaw's Bus Stop 2 still available here at Fat Buddha Store alongside more from our great range of Vinyl toys . You can check them out here.

Hottie of The Week! - Azealia Banks

Image
This week the Hottie title goes to Brooklyn born rapper, singer and lyricist Azealia Banks who has been causing it ever since she dropped her debut single 212 earlier this year which has been an absolute smasher. She's known for explicit lyrical content and open attitude, which usually ends up in controversy. More recently she graced the cover of Dazed and Confused Magazine, she posed blowing up a condom, subsequently the cover has been banned in 7 countries. I dont think she'll be caring tho!
