Going Out - Melting Pot with Psychemagik

Image
The first Melting Pot of 2013 kicks off tomorrow night at The Admiral in Glasgow, and they are starting things off the way they set to continue, by pushing things forward as far as they can, firstly by offering Psychemagik their Glasgow debut. We at Fat Buddha Store have been very taken by their edits, remixes, productions, mixes and love the Magik Cyrcles compilation on Leng too. They have an obscene record collection that only the Melting Pot sound system and highend hi-fi vinyl replay components can do proper justice to. Psychemagik The UK duo, known for their sensational disco and psychedelic edits, obscenely vast record collections, beautiful production work and transcendent mixtape journeys, are being heralded as a truly unique and positive presence in today’s music scene. “F*cking Brilliant” DJ Mag Although Tom and Danny have both been utterly immersed in music since time itself began, Psychemagik’s first appearance on wax was an edit of Fleetwood Ma...

Going Out - Melting Pot With Greg Wilson & Big Break Records

Image
Fresh from another action packed summer of festival frolics where Greg played: Bestival, Camp Bestival and The Garden Festival in Croatia to name a few, plus a US tour, he's been continuing to produce with some notable remixes for the likes of The xx, Psychemagik and Crazy P over the last year or two. His Soundcloud account has a feast of mixes to download and has recently gone over the 1 million plays! Greg is unashamedly one of Melting Pots favourite guests and one of ours to here at Fat Buddha Store and one that they all very much look forward to putting on. Melting Pot were one of the first clubs to have Greg play when he came out of his self imposed exile in December 2003. He had retired from DJing in 1983 whilst resident at Manchester’s legendary Hacienda, but not before he had placed his hallmark on the black music scene in the North of England, at clubs like Legend in Manchester and Wigan Pier, bringing the sounds of New York electro boogie to the UK. Music Monday - Greg Wilson Bestival Mix

Image
Greg Wilson is a Merseyside based DJ and producer who started out back in 1975 and has strong links to both the 80's electro scene in Manchester and the current disco/re edit scene which has seen his following grow on a global scale. Between 1984 and 2003 Greg actually quit DJ'ing but returned and now plays frequently all over the world. And his mixes are a constant favourite on the store soundsystem. Seen as the weather has been so depressing recently and festival season seems to be officially over we thought we would try and cheer people up with Greg's latest live mix from the Bollywood tent at Bestival. A real nice blend of old tracks and new and one that's be sure to put a smile on your face and a spring in your step! Greg Wilson has a fantastic knowledge on music and recently expressed his thoughts on a recent debate on the origins of dance music. A very interesting read, as well as the rest of his blog which you can check out here . You can also check ou...
