One of our favourite brands at Fat Buddha Store has to be Bookman, who are renowned for their bike lights, and who we are pleased to have received a top up delivery from. The company began life at the end of 2009 with three friends who had about half a semester left of their degree in Industrial engineering and another friend that also didn’t want to get a proper 9-5 job. They took the choice to try the entrepreneurial route and went to work. Most of them were dedicated cyclists and all shared an interest in design which gave them the direction for the brand. They thought that they are so many gadgets and accessories for bikes in the market but there was so few that we would like to put on their bikes. The company wanted to make accessories that would complement the bike instead of detract from it. They did some projects on the side to get the money for tooling and after a lot of samples getting sent back and forth they were happy to place the first order of lights in ...

We have just had a re-stock of one of our favourite books here at Fat Buddha Store, the great One Gear . Famous saddle manufacturers and purveyors of all fine bicycle related goods Brooks England are the next brand we are happy to welcome instore at Fat Buddha Store. The brand started out making bicycle saddles in 1866 in Hockley Birmingham and are now based in Smethwick Birmingham England. The fundamental design of a Brooks saddle is a leather top stretched between a metal "cantle plate" at the rear and a nose piece, to which it is attached with steel or copper rivets. Using a threaded bolt, the nose piece can be moved forward independently of the rails, tensioning the leather. It is important not to over-tension the leather or it may tear, especially at the rivets. Normally the nose bolt should not be adjusted unless the saddle becomes noticeably sagged, in which case it should only be adjusted in fractions of a turn until the top is comfortable again. Dan Snaith aka Caribou will release his debut LP under his more dance influenced moniker Daphni next week and the good people over at Resident Advisor are letting you stream the album in full before its release. Released on his own JIALONG Label and also called JIALONG the album features several vinyl only cuts as well as a modular synthesiser built by the man himself which can be heard on earlier release "Ye Ye". We actually used one of the album tracks "Yes I Know" as a soundtrack to a store promo video for the Levi's Commuter range launch night. To celebrate the launch of the new Commuter Range from Levi's , stocked exclusively in Glasgow to us here at Fat Buddha Store we threw a little party. We had special Levi's giveaways as well as drinks, music and plenty of bikes. Our friends at Rig Bike Shop joined us in celebrating by arranging a special Alleycat race around Glasgow that finished up at the store. They also provided us with some pretty neat bikes for display as well as an in strore trial bike where people could try the range out and test their speed. Alkr is a new brand for Fat Buddha - and already it seems to have gone down really well, especially online. On the video they say: Work Sessions is our new series of videos where we will portrait interesting and passionate people about their work and what they love to do. Our good Fat Buddha friend, Big Al from Sneaker Things , popped in today and was showing us a few video's and sharing stories as he does. He showed us this one of pro rider Danny MacAskill 's new video's entitled 'Way Back Home', produced by none other than Red Bull . The video is just amazing and great fun to watch. Apologies in advance if you are not a bike person but if you are, HOW good are these bikes from Create, the best looking bikes i have seen, absolutely gorgeous, they have manged to capture the Fixed Gear thing, and punk'd it up with some great colours. For £249 can you imagine anything better than rocking one of these into the summer, i can't and thats why i have my eye on the chrome one, to add to my other fixie. For the full range view them here.
