While on first glace the updates to the Jack Purcell may seem nominal, as the shoe preserves the Jack Purcell look, this edition is imbued with a plethora of improvements. What marks this model out is it's exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail which sees a durable two play duck canvas, two-piece molded foxing construction, lightweight herringbone outsole, a streamlined toecap along with premium detailing such a polished aluminum eyelets, open weave forefoot and a wider heel stay. Taking us by surprise the shoe also features an ortholite footbed with embedded Nike Zoom Air Technology for extra mobility and breathablity. Tomorrow marks the release of the highly anticipated Hudson's Bay Company and Converse collaboration and we are extremely happy to bring you that release both instore and online! The two companies with such rich history have come together to make a great piece of footwear history. Utilising the Jack Purcell model of shoe, Canadian clothiers, the Hudson's Bay Company have put their spin on it by incorporating their signature wool blanket stripes on the upper. The shoes also feature threaded stitching, antique brass eyelets and the Jack Purcell and Hudson's Bay logos printed on the footbed. This exclusive release will be available online and instore tomorrow, so don't miss your chance to grab a pair!

One of our favourite brands here at Fat Buddha Store and one of the most iconic brands of the 20th century, till present day has to be Converse . The good folks at the brand commissioned renowned Glasgow based Graffiti artist Smug to paint an ad for the brand, using the Converse Jack Purcell slogan "Shoes are boring, wear sneakers".  Smug is known for specialising in characters and photo-realistic graffiti, and around Glasgow you see lots of his work scattered around the city.  Since discovering graffiti 15 years ago Smug's work quickly grew into a perfectionist's obsession with heavy line work, letters and characters which has developed into a more photo-realistic style that has been exhibited widely.  Smug's paintings are meticulously rendered works which draw upon an eclectic range of influences, often making uncomfortable subjects into stunning pieces on canvas and in industrial and abandoned settings. Our good friends at Converse dropped of some great new displays for the brands ever popular Jack Purcell shoe yesterday, and as a thank you, we just had to post it up here. The Jack Purcell is such a timeless classic, and manages to appeal to such a wide audience of people with it's clean simple shape. Born in Guelph, Ontario, Purcell excelled at tennis and golf as a child. He took up badminton in 1924, and rose quickly in Ontario's amateur ranks. Purcell won five consecutive Ontario championships from 1927 to 1931, and was the Canadian National Badminton Champion in 1929 and 1930. Purcell became the leading badminton player in Canada, which led him to write a badminton column for the Toronto Star . In 1931, Purcell traveled to England , having beaten all his competitors in Canada. There, he won the Surrey Doubles but got only as far as the semi-finals in the All-England Championships .
