Going Out - Optimo presents BUCKY SKANK

Bucky Skank is an annual night from Optimo that celebrates Jamaican music in all its forms. For this fourth instalment, Twitch will delve into his collection to play his favourite dub, dancehall, ska, roots, sleng teng, steppers and rocksteady records as well as anything that might have a Jamaican influence that will fit in. The night is augmented with dub delays, space echo, dub siren and banks of samples operated by JG Wilkes. GSA 2015 Fashion Show

A s an independent retailer Fat Buddha Store are delighted to be one of the key sponsors of the Glasgow School of Art fashion show supporting new and emerging talent in our home city. This week at the Art School over 40 budding and emerging designers exhibited their collections inspired by a range of non-Eurocentric traditions on a catwalk set created by a Fashion and Textiles design team in partnership with 3rd year Architecture students. As one of the key corporate sponsors along with Dr Martens and Mandors we were delighted to be at the fashion show to witness a new generation of design talent. Each designer created three looks inspired by world dress and various global textile traditions to examine cultural fashion conventions. Inspiration was drawn from  an eclectic mix of sources raging from "paintings of the Mbuti tribe of the DRC, the Inuit of Nunavik, Chinese porcelain, Japanese Samurais, Ethiopian Body Art, Syrian Style and Peruvian textiles." Going out in Glasgow - At The Berkley

The Berkley Suite , once a Victorian public house re opened it's doors in September 2011. The venue is all about the old school with it's marble floors and chandeliers and since it re opening has went from srtength to strength becoming one of Glasgow's hottest night spots. Andrew Weatherall & Sean Johnston hold a residency with their "A Love From Outer Space" night. More recently they have seen Derrick Carter bring the house down and also have Norwegian disco pioneer Prins Thomas lined up for June. This weekend is The Berkley suite will continue with it's growing repuation of a great night out by playing host to Den Haan on Friday night and celebrating the Glasgow School of Art end of year with a party hosted by Supermax with DJ Billy Woods. Den Haan are a duo from Glasgow who specialise in making upbeat, pulsating italo influenced dance music.
