LEGO's largest ever model was revealed in New York City’s Times Square yesterday in the shape of the Star Wars X-Wing Fighter. It is the world’s largest LEGO model coming in at 42x the size of the #9493 Star Wars set currently available. The model was constructed in LEGO’s model shop in Kladno, Czech Republic and measures 11 x 43 feet with a wingspan of 44 feet. The 1:1 scale model uses over five million bricks and weighs in at over 45,000 pounds. An international team of builders, engineers, designers, mechanics and logistics experts spent over a year planning and constructing the model from the same bricks enjoyed by people all over the world. The X-wing will in due course appear at the company's LEGOLAND Resort in Carlsbad, California (after being certified as strong enough under the state's seismic requirements), and is being displayed in Times Square to publicize the forthcoming "Yoda Chronicles...

Although Star Wars may be the talk of the weekend, our Hottie of the Week Alice Eve has got us all excited for the imminent release of 'Star Trek Into Darkness'! Born in London, Alice has been acting since her days at St. Catherines College, Oxford where she appeared in student productions which toured the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She then went on to have roles on TV in BBC drama 'The Rotters' Club', 'Poirot' and 'Hawking' and in 2006 she had major roles in the cult hit films 'Starter for 10' and 'Big Nothing'. She has also appeared in hit HBO show 'Entourage' and she plays Dr Carol Marcus in the new Star Trek film. We love her old school Marylin Monroe-esque looks, she's the epitome of a blonde bombshell!

As a set of 16 you don't need to try and collect them, get them all at once. This collection is made in conjunction with a Pepsi Max promotion run in 2008 and we now have the whole set here, fantastic. I also found a wee video someone made of them on youtube... We got a little email today... Guess what we are getting in store? Medicom's 100% Star Wars Be@rbrick collection!!! Originally used by Pepsi in a Japanese advertising campaign these highly collectible Star Wars trinkets will be available shortly as a collectors set! We also are getting in 100% Watchmen ones... I am excited... So... This is the best Star Wars video out and you HAVE to watch it, although I wouldn't watch it if you don't like swearing! Make sure you check out the video reply to the movie too! If you are a regular follower of the blog, you will no doubt know that Fat Buddha owner, Leslie, is a Star Wars nut - if it's got anything to do with the Sci-Fi blockbuster he wants to know about it! I came across these little cuties and as we already stock Hello Kitty , these will fit in nicely to the shop....shame they are only a concept (by New Zealand's Joseph Senior ) at the moment, but hopefully the people who built the multi-billion dollar Hello Kitty brand will see sense and get these on the shelves asap!

I know Leslie would never dream of replacing Maisie , his sidekick and the much loved Fat Buddha shop dog. But if he is looking to add another member to his pet family, I think this would be it... I also came across some nice bits of artwork created from them... I might try and find an AT-AT and knock out a custom!
