Graffiti and brands

Image
Two of our favourite and most popular brands to date, The Hundreds and Obey, have both recently decided to choose and support graffiti artists and crews to showcase what they have to offer. Recently a video surfaced of Shepard Faireys Obey brand supporting the Russian CHO Crew, the video showcases their antics throughout Russia and a trip to spain. Excellent footage and edited very stylishly this video comes across very cool, the video also hosts great shots of wheat pasting/postering giving us an insight into how Shepard Fairey rose to fame and how he went about it. Aside from this there are some great shots of a lovely girl in high waisted shots skateboarding through Barcelona, a great way to kill time on a rainy day like today. Unfortunately it wont let me embed the video on this blogger so you can find that video here . The second group of artists and brand in hand is The Seventh Letter working with The Hundreds. These video gives us a look at each artist from the crew and wha...

Starting life as a menswear label in 1996, Addict has developed a signature style of streetwear that blends classic casual wear with the performance, quality and functionality of high spec outerwear. The brand has over a decade’s worth of heritage in the streetwear genre, its roots run deep in the design, music and board sports communities crossing over both to the underground and mainstream alike since birth. We are pleased to announce we will be gettin an all new range of Addict Clothing back in Fat Buddha at the end of the year! Fraser

Favourite Artists Pt.1

I mentioned in the post about art cars last week that I'm a big fan of Jeff Koons work, so thought I'd share some of his and other artists work I like... Here's the sculpture that first got me into Jeff Koons.... ...it comes in different colours too! I just love the play on scale and also the finish which is total perfection! Purely for his marketing skills, I'm a huge fan of Damien Hirst. He's not doing anything hugely original, he just makes a much bigger show of it. I've been into graffiti and street art since before many of our customers were born. I used to spend hours flicking through my copies of Subway Art and Spraycan Art (two books which everyone should have in their collection), these, along with a hip hop video called Electro Rock (a video, or video cassette, is what we used to watch before DVD's came along) got me into the work of the Chrome Angelz (TCA), with artists like Mode 2, Bando and Scribla. Some nice person has made a flickr co...

Krink

Image
People today don't realise how good they've got it, with loads of manufacturers producing amazing products and nice retailers (like us) selling them or even delivering them to your door ! Back in early eighties it wasn't as easy to get hold of good art materials that were versatile enough for the needs of graffiti and street artists. Enter KR, who had the same problem, and after spending a majority of the nineties in San Francisco experimenting with various inks (and ways of dispensing them), he returned to his native New York and with the help of the crew at Alife, he started KRINK . The company now ships worldwide and keeps drip happy artists happy in every continent with it's ethos of creative tools for creative thinkers . Craig "KR" Costello not only believes in his product, but has reached cult status with his drippy artwork, which has seen him working with brands such as Nike , Kidrobot and even BMW Mini. He has a huge following and people fl...
