This September sees the return of the No Mean City Festival , a celebration of Americana music right in the heart of Glasgow! Now in its third year, the No Mean City Festival takes place at variety of venues across the city centre including Nice 'n' Sleazy, Broadcast, Oran Mor and O2 ABC showcasing some of the best new and classic Americana and Roots music acts. This week alone sees Strand of Oaks, The Be Good Tanya's and Eels perform around the city with other stellar acts such as Jim White, Junip and the living legend Kris Kristofferson set to perform later in the month. If you like your music acoustic, soothing and with compelling stories, then get yourself along to the No Mean City Festival !

This weeks Music Monday is somewhat of a departure from our regular musical path, but no less impressive or brilliant. This week we highlight emerging Americana artist Jesse Woods who combines classic country sound with his 90's kid upbringing. Born in Katy, Texas, Jesse originally started out on a path to American Football, becoming the star of his High School football team and earning a scholarship to Texas A&M to play wide receiver for the Aggies. Unfortunately for his footballing career, but fortunate for us as music lovers, a series of injuries cut short his playing career and he decided to turn to music. He cites his influences growing up as the gospel music his father would listen to which taught him about the correct use of harmonies, the explosion of grunge music he listened to as a rebellious teenager and the singer songwriters of the sixties and seventies that he discovered as a young man in High School. Prolific folk singer-songwriter Iron and Wine is set to release his fifth studio album 'Ghost on Ghost' next week and the good folks over at NPR have managed to snag themselves a stream of the album for our enjoyment!   Sam Beam, from North Carolina, released his first album under the moniker Iron and Wine titled 'The Creek Drank The Cradle' on Sub Pop records in 2002. The album was entirely written, performed, recorded and produced by Beam in his home studio and featured acoustic guitars, banjos and slide guitars, drawing a number of comparisons to Nick Drake, Simon Garfunkel and Neil Young In 2004, Beam released his second studio album 'Our Endless Numbered Days', this time recording in a professional studio in Chicago with acclaimed music producer Brian Deck. We're nothing if not diverse here at Fat Buddha store, and we like you a little taste of our diversity through our Music Monday feature. This week we're presenting a much more sombre singing talent, something to help ease you into the New Year and get you over the hangover and potential heartbreak of the Xmas and New Year festivities. Keaton Henson, a singer-songwriter from London has gained something of a cult following through a series of bedroom recordings bearing his heart and soul. Keaton is a rare breed, he very much favours solitude and rarely performs live. In interviews, performances and videos he shys away from any and all publicity and seems uncomfortable with the spotlight, which is a crying shame given his considerable talent.
