Music Monday - Jesse Woods!

This weeks Music Monday is somewhat of a departure from our regular musical path, but no less impressive or brilliant.

This week we highlight emerging Americana artist Jesse Woods who combines classic country sound with his 90's kid upbringing.

Born in Katy, Texas, Jesse originally started out on a path to American Football, becoming the star of his High School football team and earning a scholarship to Texas A&M to play wide receiver for the Aggies.

Unfortunately for his footballing career, but fortunate for us as music lovers, a series of injuries cut short his playing career and he decided to turn to music.

He cites his influences growing up as the gospel music his father would listen to which taught him about the correct use of harmonies, the explosion of grunge music he listened to as a rebellious teenager and the singer songwriters of the sixties and seventies that he discovered as a young man in High School.

His debut album 'Get Your Burdens Lifted', slated for release on August 6th but streaming now, combines all these influences into something which is equal parts as country as it is progressive.

With standout tracks like 'Lazerburn' and 'Walk Along Cattle Drives' along with recognition and support from the likes of Vogue and New York hipster hotspot Ace Hotel, we have a feeling that Jesse Woods may just have a little something!
