Fat Buddha x Carhartt Spring Launch Party Video

So here it is the video we put together of the Fat Buddha x Carhartt Spring Launch Party we held in store last month. Fat Buddha x Carhartt Spring Launch Party from Fat Buddha Store on Vimeo . We really went all out for this one with a specially painted Carhartt window, had the dressing room decorated in Carhartt wallpaper and Carhartt displays throughout the store including the Carhartt x 5Boro display, exclusive to Fat Buddha. A massive thanks to everyone who came along and Carhartt for all of their support. Thanks also to Bier Halle for supplying the drinks and DJ Auntie Flo for providing the soundtrack to the party. Check out the full Carhartt range online here .

Keep It Trill.

Stussy Toronto - Bun B "Keep It Trill" Instore Event from Stussy Chapters on Vimeo . Stussy and Ransom Holding Co. hosted a Bun B in-store to mark the release of the Stussy x Ransom x Undefeated x Bun B "Keep it Trill" tee. The tee was sold in limited quantities at the Stussy Toronto Chapter. Respect to Bun B and UGK. Don't forget to check out our selection of Undefeated tees online here Fraser

Companions.

Another Shop favourite: KAWS. After an initial run overlooking Hong Kong’s bustling harbor, the KAWS’ PassingThrough COMPANION had a switch of locations as it left the confines of Hong Kong to a slightly quieter venue outside The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. As part of KAWS’ show at the time, Paper Fortress shot the following video which documents the sculptures travel and subsequent rebuilding. KAWS COMPANION (Passing Through) at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum from Paper Fortress on Vimeo . Fraser.

Tron Legacy + Daft Punk

I don't know anyone that gets more excited about a movie before it even comes out than Fat Buddha weekend warrior David . So when I saw this I couldn't help get him fired up for Halloween weekend in the shop, D, this one's for you.... ©

Caligraffiti with Shoe

Image
Not to be out done by Krink's Craig 'KR' Costello's mini, caligraffiti artist, Niels 'Shoe' Meulman has got hold of a nice benzito to work his own kind of magic.   Sharp-eyed viewers would have noticed he's using an On The Run marker, which is a top seller here at Fat Buddha . So get working on those handstyles and you too could one day be making your mark on a nice shiny new car.  Alternatively, if you love all things pink, grab hold of some of theses goodies from the shop or our online store... Smile, it's Monday...

Life is good, enjoy it while you can, and if you're p'd off that it's Monday, you're back at work, uni, college or school, take 5 minutes out of your day and realise that life is too short to be miserable. Hope you all have a good week and if you're wondering, here's some info about the video. 'The classic dancing scene from Jean-Luc Goddard's crime comedy Bande a Part. It so impressed Quentin Tarantino that he named his movie production company, "A Band Apart", after the film and referenced it in Pulp Fiction. Goddard later said that he would much rather Tarantino had just given him a lot of money instead. Bande a Part was released in the US as Band of Outsiders.' ©

Viral Ads

It's amazing to think that viral ads (you know the ones that appear on youtube and your friends send you a link too) have only been around for such a short time - the creativity is immense! Here's one I just came across and a couple of older ones... Becks Beer with DJ Cheeba Mark Ecko tagging Air Force One (the presidents plane) - this was to promote his graffiti video game - he ended up getting quite a bit of a backlash over this hoax. It did the trick though, lot's of coverage for him, his game and his brand - any publicity is good publicity! Ronaldhino's ad for Nike has had millions of views - camera trickery or sick skills??? the argument carries on, I'm pretty sure they sold quite a few pairs of those golden boots off the back of it though! Fraser and I were talking about this one in the shop today...again it's Nike hitting all the right notes for their SB's - good tune, sick skateboarding, cameo's aplenty and a nice ending. I...

Ron Bedeau - Choreographer/Dancer

Image
Got chatting with a first time customer in the shop today - he's been in Glasgow for a couple of years yet only just came across us today. Turns out he's a pretty well known street dancer and choreographer called Ron Bedeau, all the way from Canada. He teaches various classes throughout the Greater Glasgow area as well as perfoming himself. You can find out more about him and what he can do on his website . Here's a video of him in action from Diddys blog on youtube. Ron was loving the Vans we have and will be popping back soon when we get full stocked on the New Era Caps . Thanks for the pic Ron and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

FAQ's - Angelus Leather Paint

Image
Our phone is always going in the shop, and the same questions keep coming up. Over the coming weeks we will try to cover as many of the most common questions we get asked on pretty much a daily basis - we can then direct people to the blog for a more detailed answer. First up, as I took three calls yesterday regarding this product,   Angelus Leather Paint  will kick off our FAQ's series. It's widely regarded as the premier brand in a whole variety of areas including custom sneakers, bike saddles/saddle bags, touching up leather car interiors etc. etc. A quick search on google will find a whole host of tutorials and examples of what can be done with Angelus, so here's some of them which you may find useful and inspiring... These amazing Kaws custom Nike's are done by renowned sneaker artist Mache, you can find out more about him in his interview with sneakerfreaker magazine . Next guy I was really impressed by was Stizo with his Buzz Flightyear Hi, you can ch...

AT-AT Day Afternoon

Image
I know Leslie would never dream of replacing Maisie , his sidekick and the much loved Fat Buddha shop dog. But if he is looking to add another member to his pet family, I think this would be it... I also came across some nice bits of artwork created from them... I might try and find an AT-AT and knock out a custom!

Stencil Graffiti

Image
Had another couple of people in the shop today asking about stencil graffiti, so here's some more information for anyone looking to find out more about it. Check out the links below and all of the basics can be found along with some inspirational artwork from some of stencil graffiti's finest... First thing to do is get hold of a copy of Stencil Graffiti by Tristan Manco, lots of great work from all over the globe. The accompanying site has some great links too. If you want to practice some of the basics, grab a stencil from spraypaintstencils.com , start off with some simple silhouettes to get you used to cutting the stencils and spraying without getting the dreaded overspray! (little tip: a light dusting of spray mount on the back of your stencil will do the trick) If your looking to get some interaction with some of the best stencil artists from around the world, head on over to the Stencil Revolution forum , it's quite a tight group that frequent their forum, but...

Klingatron

Image
I've had a couple of people in the shop over the past couple of days asking about stencil graffiti and have been showing them the work of Glasgow stencil artist, friend of Fat Buddha and all round good guy, Klingatron . Klingatron is quite well known on the internet and has exhibited all over the place - on his own, in group shows and with Xynthetic Collective. If you haven't seen his work, check out his website gallery and be suitably impressed by the many hours he spends cutting up his stencils! Here are a couple of his most recognised works... and here's a nice little vid of the man himself at work... We've got a couple of his sweats and beanies (with the bear graphic) in the shop .

The Magic Rolling Board

Came across this video, over at the Wooster Collective , a great site which i visit every week, this video harks back to the seventies and features the wonder of the Skateboard
