BAD Teacher - AVOID

Image
On the subject of truly dreadful movies, we have 'Bad Teacher', wasted 2 hours of my life watching this 'SH*T' last night, terrible characters, terrible story, dire pacing, horrific in every sense. If any of your friends try and tell you that this film is good you will know never ever to trust their judgement evere ever again, and i would advise at that point to disown them and never see them again. Do not watch it thinking that it might be alright and i'm talking pish as you will regret it. leslie xx

Movies

At Fat Buddha we all love the movies, who doesn't really? I just got my hands on one of those unlimited cards and have been making good use of it so I wanted to let you know of a few good films to see and to look out for! Out now is the utterly terrifying Paranormal Activity 2 and the stupid but hilarious Jackass 3D... I went to see Paranormal Activity 2 at the midnight showing on Halloween and I can safely say it is the scariest movie I have ever seen. I am sure there will be a few people who moan about it being filmed on security cameras and thats what makes it scary! I dare anyone not to jump at least once during the film... I jumped so hard at one bit I made a 'ooOOAAaaaww' sort of face! People walked out, my girlfriend looked as though she was going to be sick and didn't sleep at all... Excellent! Jackass is what it is and if you don't like it, seeing it in 3D won't make you like it more. However, if you DO like it, you are going to love the 3D mad...

3D Zombies

Image
Tonight I am going to see Resident Evil: Afterlife in 3-D For anyone who has spoken to me for more than 5 minutes, you will know I am a huge geek. So the prospect of seeing a zombie movie based on a great series of games in 3-D makes me very happy! Am I expecting an Oscar winning acting performances and incredible plot? No... I am expecting... Zombies and Jovovich in goryous 3D, unencumbered by plot and character development. Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter fighting zombies and monsters with guns, swords and fists all in glorious 3-D what more is needed? Well, I wouldn't mind seeing them together soaking wet! Oh, wait... I am also pretty happy about the huge guy with the big spiked hammer, my life is complete. Sadly in Fat Buddha we don't sell anything zombie related other but we should! Other than Eastpak bags old advertising campaign. I will do a little update tonight letting you know just how acceptably awful it actually is... So! I just got home and ...

Wake Up.

After weeks and weeks and literally WEEKS of people telling me how mind blowing it is, I finally got to see the new film by Christopher Nolan - INCEPTION. I'm usually skeptical of major blockbusters because the hype usually always drowns a film I would normally thoroughly enjoy, but thankfully this film lived up and even exceeded all hype surrounding it. Films that tackle the mind can often be conceited and drawn out but Nolan creates a world full of possibilities, action and thrilling concepts. Its safe to say I'd thoroughly recommend this movie. And for anyone struggling to sleep or dream or even relax, may I suggest some of our cushions to help you drift off: Sleep tight. Fraser.

The Invention of Lying - is SHIT

Image
Saturday night was good, managed to catch 'Inglorious Bastards' from Mr Tarantino, great film, great dialogue and really good characters, well worth a watch, wouldn't even mind seeing it again. Sunday night comes about and since we both have the sadlad cineworld passed, decided to catch another movie, but finished at 6 and didnt want to go home, so grabbed something that started round then, yes there were other options but Mr Gervais is normally good so what the hell. Even worse, he wrote it, how can anyone write such kack and not realise its not complete tosh, same tired and crap joke over and over again, and again and again, HATED it and it was the worst waste of time. This film is SHIT, do not go to see it, ever. job done

Wired In

Image
I have a confession to make. I am an addict. But unlikely those trapped in the grip of the tangy more-ishness of barbituate based product, I'm fixated on a TV screen several times a week. I am addicted to HBO's The Wire. It is a TV show that began around 8 years ago and yet it's only now that people like me are catching up to the fact it's the pinacle of television. And that's nice that TV, now truly in its demise as a medium, has finally reached something close to art. Set in Baltimore, The Wire is five sesons of drama about those involved in crime and the police. Each season examines it from a different angle-schools, shipping, the press, the streets. The dialogue is not only incredibly realistic but the show isn't afraid to use full on slang that to many unfamiliar will be totlaly impenatrable. Charlie Brooker called it "the best show in the last 25 years" and "a show about the decline of the American empire." Anything that's described...

The Baader Meinhof Complex

Image
Went to see " The Baader Meinhof Complex" at the pictures the other night. (What did you think I'd go see, "Four Christmases"?) Without a doubt, one of the best movies, out of the admittedly very few I've seen during a very busy year. What I liked was it never wagged the "you are a terrorist and therefore bad" finger at anyone. It was well researched, well considered and extremely entertaining.  Not that the Baader-Meinhof gang were a lovely bunch of folks. But with recent times, the question of why terrorism? rises again and again. The movie makes it very simple and gives the obvious answer-if you don't give people a voice, then you give them cause to shoot you. When leaving the cinema with a now-very-distressed friend following the movie, I tried to think why governments can't really understand this. Nor why they seem to think that relentless bombing will make it go away. Nor why terrorists think relentless bombing will make imperialism...

Jones After the portentous "No Country for Old Men," Joel and Ethan Coen return to their trademark brand of cruel, misanthropic farce, and for dark laughs and hurtling narrative momentum this spy caper is their best work since "Fargo." 91 Christian Science Monitor Peter Rainer This is the loopiest star vehicle in ages. 90 Film Threat Zack Haddad A roller coaster of emotions that will have you laughing one moment and gasping in shock the next. 83 Portland Oregonian Marc Mohan Nothing more and nothing less than a savvy and talented cast having its way with a clever, hilariou...

Wanted Movie Review

Went to see this cool lil film last night, had heard some good reports and it didn't disappoint, thing i cant believe is how sexy Jolie looked, never really got her before but wow she does look stunning and Jame's american accent was pretty impressive. Well worth spending the money to see this flick, some reviews grabbed from metacritic for you to digest 100 The Hollywood Reporter Michael Rechtshaffen This over-the-top, ultraviolent, hyperkinetic action thriller pretty much has it all. 90 New York Magazine David Edelstein It takes about an hour after it's over for the heart to slow, the brain to recalibrate, and the nonsensicalness of the thing to sink in. 83 Portland Oregonian Shawn Levy Bekmambetov revs it up furiously and unleashes one bit of hyperactive, dazzling invention after another. The result is a throwaway wrapped up in the coolest packaging imaginable, which is acres better than the opposite. 83 Baltimore Sun Michael Sragow What's bleakly hilarious about th...
