Great Scottish Run
Today marks this years Great Scottish Run. Around 20,000 people are expected to take part and the event encompasses both a 10K in the morning and a half marathon which started at 11am.
This event helps to raise in excess of £1.5m for charities each year from the fundraising efforts of its many participants. We here at the store had the pleasure of standing outside and cheering on the many runners who had passed by!
A route that closes a few of Glasgow's roads for a few hours is used and participants can expect to run on and cross the M8 motorway around 4 times as well as crossing the River Clyde twice.
The run is open to all who wish to enter it and welcomes walkers/speed walkers to the course as well.
This is the first time I have personally seen the race with my own eyes and to see thousands of heads bobbing away in the distance on three lane wide road in Glasgow city centre is surreal to say the least. If I can get myself relatively fit and in training I may even take part myself next year!
You can have a look at all the information from the Great Scottish Run from their website.
As usual you can keep up to date with all the dealings from the store by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
Hope you all have had a great weekend.
John
