Edwin x Jofama Airman Leather Jacket

A new clothing delivery from Tokyo denim giants Edwin has just arrived instore at Fat Buddha Store. Established in Japan in 1947 by Mr Tsunemi who had a passion for denim. He began to import them directly from the United States as no denim was manufactured in Japan at that time. In 1951 domestically manufactured denim was available for the first time in Japan. The product was expensive and inferior in quality compared to its American counterparts. Mr Tsumeni was driven to create his own denims, with greater sophistication in fits, washes and quality. From this point on in Edwin denim history, quality, craftsmanship, innovation and integrity have been the main ethos and aesthetic of the brand. In 1961 the first pair of Edwin jeans were born, crafted by Mr Tsunemi. Using the letters D, E, N, I & M (reversing the M creating a W) he created the brand name ‘Edwin’.

In 1963 Edwin produced the world’s heaviest ringspun denim jean which featured the famous three-colour rainbow selvedge, which is as popular as ever and still in use today. In the 1970’s Edwin were the first company in the world to develop ‘old wash’ designed to replicate denim which have been worn from its original rigid, unwashed state traditionally designed for workwear due to its durability.
Moving into the 1980’s Edwin invented ‘stone washing’ which revolutionised the entire denim industry and was a pivotal moment in the evolution of denim manufacturing, thus influencing, every denim company in existence today. The 1990’s saw Edwin create the ‘new vintage’ denim concept, which encompasses the subtle beauty of hand replicating vintage washes from archive references pre-dating 1947. To present day and beyond the brand goes from strength to strength and remains a major part of popular fashion. The company now also produce a great line of clothing including T-shirts, Shirts, Jackets and and Hats, always maintaining their craftsmanship and quality.

The Airman Leather Jacket is a great testament to their ethos. A collaboration between the Swedish brand Jofama who are know for their motorcylce wear. The Airman Jacket features a Detachable Fur Collar, Zip Pockets, Adjustable Belt, Diamond Quilted Red Lining and is 100% Leather, finished of in a stone wash which gives the jacket a great vintage look. This jacket is stunning and really has to be seen to be appriciated. In store now at Fat Buddha Store alongside some more great pieces of Edwin clothing and Selvedge Denim.
