Fat Buddha Store Look - Smarten Up

The term smart casual is as ubiquitous as it is exasperating; this ambiguously defined dress-code can be a difficult one to master. In the spirit of this in our latest Fat Buddha Store look, our in-house photo editorial series highlighting some of summer's most season defining trends, we have put together our  take on dressed streetwear.

A shirt is a great way to smarten up any look. However, try avoiding dress shirts to stop overkill; simple rule if a shirt would work with a suit it's not gonna work with denims. The shirt we have selected for this look comes from Carhartt WIP and is made from a summer ready light cotton. A classic check pattern has been reworked with a contemporary colour palette of pinks and dove greys. While denim may seem to belong on the casual side of the spectrum a pair of high quality jeans, like these constructed from fine Japanese Nihama denim, can elevate any look. The cut on the Oakland Pant seen here is a classic regular fit with a straight leg for a timeless aesthetic. For outwear we have used Carhartt WIP's Adams Jacket; this combination of a classic silhouette with understated detailing bridges the gap between smart and dressy. For footwear we have gone with Adidas's signature 350. While this 80s terrace profile might not be an obvious choice for a dressier look this edition has been given the premium treatment thanks to a plush sky blue suede upper sat atop a crisp white sole unit which we feel compliments this overall look. Accessories make the man so finish the look with a watch for a more grown up, together look.
