Music Monday - Wale!
Wale, born Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, is a Washington, D.C. rapper who first came to light in 2006 after his single "Dig Dug (Shake It)" gained some significant popularity in his hometown. Shortly after that, super-producer Mark Ronson discovered Wale's music and signed him to Allido Records in 2007, which allowed him to release several mixtapes and appear on MTV and in magazines such as XXL and Vibe.
In 2008, Wale made the jump to his first major label with Interscope Records, where he released his first full length studio album "Attention Deficit" to critical acclaim but unfortunately not commercial success.
Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group signed Wale in the February of 2011 and he released his second studio album "Ambition" in the October of that year, shooting to number 2 in the US Billboard 200.
Wale is noted as being a massive sports fan, he even attended college for a short time on an american football scholarship, a devout fan of the Washington Redskins and is close friends with many of the players including star quarterback RG3.
Wale is also a famed sneakerhead, is constantly seen in some of the freshest, most exclusive and often unreleased sneakers, from Lebrons to Jordans to Foamposites to Air Max, you'd be hard pressed to find a sneaker that Wale hasn't rocked. Check out a tiny portion of his collection below.
"The Gifted" is Wale's third studio album and second as part of Maybach Music Group and features Meek Mill, Cee- Lo Green, Juicy J, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa and 2 Chainz amongst others.
