Carhartt WIP - A/W 'Utility'
Here, instead of rugged brown canvas, garments are created in heavy, structured twill and raw, undyed herringbone that has a speckled, salt-and-pepper look. The designs draw from an array of influences: pockets from a military smock are applied to the Charter Shirt, while angular contrast stitching and a washed-out blue colour – labelled ‘astro’ – both nod to functional garments of a more European origin.
Utility also extends to a series of cotton jersey items, which appear in a loose, boxy fit with contrast flatlock stitch detailing. The Charter Pant, meanwhile, sees a classic cargo pant silhouette executed in a garment dyed twill, across a spectrum of washed-out colors. The result is a series of understated silhouettes that have a sense of everyday versatility, filtered through an unmistakable Carhartt WIP lens.
