Going Out: New Year

Hopefully you enjoyed some of the nights over Christmas from our last Going Out post... but it's time for an even bigger party with NYE just round the corner.

OPTIMO HOGMANAY 2014 - The Art School
This Hogmanay Glasgow legends OPTIMO are back at their old haunt of The Art School for the first time in years. Here is what to expect:

Assembly Hall - OPTIMO TRAX - Boot & Tax (LIVE) + JD Twitch & JG Wilkes
The Vic Bar - OPTIMO MUSIC presents Whilst & Golden Teacher all night DJ takeover - featuring Whilst (LIVE)

OPTIMO return to the Glasgow School Of Art for their biggest Glasgow party of the year, choosing to celebrate their own musical family with a line-up of artists from the Optimo Music and Optimo Trax labels.

Accompanying JG Wilkes & JD Twitch in the main room are Milanese duo BOOT & TAX. Their first Ep ACIDO on Optimo Trax was a sell-out success, ripping a path through dancefloors in 2013. This, their UK debut live show, promises to be a thrilling hybrid of seedy italo-house, spagetti-western atmospherics and squalling synths - if the somewhat mysterious duo's releases are any indication!

Downstairs in the Vic Bar will be a WHILST & GOLDEN TEACHER DJ take-over all night long and a NYE live performance from WHILST.

We are also happy to announce the return of the Optimo New Year's Eve Cludgie Karaoke Sessions hosted by Katie Shambles.

It's all most definitely "ON"! 31st December at The Art School.

Tickets unfortunately sold out yesterday but those unlucky few who didn't get hold of one should head over to the Facebook event here in hope of picking up a spare for sale.

20 Years of Subculture NYE with Harri & Domenic / Chez Damier / The Revenge / Telford - Subclub

Over at Glasgow stalwat Subclub this Hogmany Subculture’s bring their phenomenal 20th anniversary year to a close with a sterling line up of Harri & Domenic, Chez Damier, The Revenge (live) and Telford. Here is what Subclub are saying about it:

This is it, bringing 2014 and Subculture’s phenomenal 20th anniversary year to a close, Harri and Domenic bring down the curtain, and no doubt the whole house, with the mighty Chez Damier front, centre and very much to the fore for NYE. Through KMS, The Music Institute, Prescription and much more, Chez Damier has rocked, released and run so many inroads and influences across Chicago and Detroit’s subcultural musical landscape and legacy that it’s impossible to quantify properly on paper. Let’s just say Harri and Domenic plan to put on the perfect party with this legendary DJ while spicing proceedings up with the debut live show from the much loved The Revenge drawn from closer to home. Completing the Subculture Hogmanay talent ticket, our own boy wonder Telford mans up on the decks with a selection that is sure to inspire his peers.

It’s been a formidable twentieth year and Subculture ends it as they mean to go on, hard partying with the best, long into 2015.
