Asics - “End Of An Era”

After 20 years of success and continued support by ASICS, the GEL X-TRA Series will finally go into retirement.

Released for the first time in 1997, the GEL-111 and A6-GEL X-TRA have been iconic and leading models in the running world for more then a decade. The X-TRA Series is one of the most popular series ASICS ever produced. It’s needless to say that throughout the years ASICS created a huge fanbase for these running shoes. For the fans a sad day has arrived, however it’s also a great occasion to salute these icons by bringing it within the GEL lifestyle collection just to celebrate the End Of An Era!

The release of this iconic road running pack will take place at selected retailers in small quatities throughout Europe on the 16th of June 2012.

ASICS
In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano", which when translated expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness.
