Image
Disco deviants Horse Meat Disco make a welcome return to Glasgow's Berkeley Suite tomorrow night (Saturday 31st August). Inspired by the music and inclusive ethos of New York's heady club scene in the 80s & 90s the collective have garnered a unique reputation for throwing amazing parties with unmatchable sets. The quartet of djs each mix their own individual interpretations of the disco sound with a soundtrack that marries their expertise and shared knowledge and experience in the field. Puma MMQ - Autmn/Winter 13

Image
Puma MMQ returns for Autumn/Winter 2013 at Fat Buddha Store , with some great reworks of some of the brands classic styles. Puma products of the past were stamped with a mark of above average quality - "Macht's Mit Qualitat' German for 'Puma does it with Quality". The new MMQ collection revives that era of uncompromised product quality with a modern twist for 2013. Fusing various elements of workwear  with a hint of Tokyo's progressive street-wear trends, the MMQ collection translates utilitarian design for the urban environment. These austere themes take fresh form with the addition of premium materials and constructions. The brand have selected such shapes as The Stepper (shown above), the Oslo, and the Basket Classic both shown below. All shoes from the Puma MMQ collection are available from the 1st September at Fat Buddha Store online and instore, but be quick as this great collection looks to sell out fast!

Music Monday - King Krule!

Image
If you haven't heard the name King Krule over the past week or so, then you must have been living under a rock! The just-turned-19 year old singer has become the darling of the blogosphere with the release of his first studio album, '6 Feet Beneath The Moon', with critics likening his sound to that of Edwyn Collins and Morrissey. Its been 3 years since King Krule released his first single 'Out Getting Ribs', but it looks as if right now the rest of the music world is beginning to realise that he is something special, with nominations to the BBC Sound Of 2013 poll and rumoured collaborations with Frank Ocean in the works. King Krule's young life has not been easy though, after refusing to attend school, he was given a home tutor and subsequently sent to two centres for the permanently excluded, he also suffered from insomnia and was put through rigorous tests for mental illness at London's Maudsley Hospital. Perhaps these experiences a...

Hottie of the Week - Anna Kendrick!

Image
Taking the hottie honours for this week is the incredibly sexy and equally hilarious Anna Kendrick. Rising to international fame in 2008/9 with appearances alongside George Clooney in 'Up in the Air' and a prominent role in the hugely successful 'Twilight' series of films, Anna has become a fan favourite amongst movie-goers for her quirky personality and her comedic abilities. Anna has since gone on to star in critically acclaimed films such as '50/50' alongside Joseph Gordon Levitt, 'End of Watch' alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and in possibly her biggest role to date in 'Pitch Perfect'. She recently appeared in a racy spread for American GQ magazine and offered some rather interesting dating advice. Its something special when you find a chick as hot as Anna that is also genuinely funny, thats why we love her!

Universal Works at Fat Buddha Store

Image
One brand we are super excited about arriving at Fat Buddha Store is Universal Works. We welcome the brand on board , and it will be making it's first appearence next week at Fat Buddha for Autumn/Winter 2013. The brand started out in late 2008 when Universal Works was born, with the Autumn Winter 2009 their first collection. The companys owner David Keyte work life reads like a description of the company's DNA – an early career in the Midlands, firstly as a sign writer, actually painting lettering before it all went vinyl, then in the local coal mine which, brought an understanding of real work wear, then, through fourteen years at Paul Smith, an elegant English sartorial element was added. A further five years at Maharishi brought his love of street wear into the mix. Universal Works aims to mix the great British clothing heritage with a modern, more international feel – wearable; sustainable and affordable; clothes that reflect the personality of the owne...

Nike SB - Project BA

Image
The new Nike SB Project BA has just landed at Fat Buddha Store and is a sneaker that’s immediately won over the core-skate crowd, and also those who have never went near a skateboard have gravitated towards the model. That comes as no surprise when you consider that Brian Anderson is a veteran skater who has no time for a silhouette oriented towards anything but the activity that earns him the big bucks. Elements aiding that goal include a thick Lunarlon padding for the insoles and a runner-inspired toe tailor made for Anderson’s flip-trick heavy style. You can check out more pics below. The Nike SB Project BA in Black/Grey which is the model shown above is available  in store now at Fat Buddha Store and online in the next few days. You can check out lots more from the Nike SB range here .

Music Monday - Earl Sweatshirt!

Image
It has finally arrived, the long awaited debut from Odd Future standout and quite possibly one of the most exciting young rappers in the game today, Earl Sweatshirt's Doris is out now! Earl Sweatshirt has long been marked out as possibly the best that Odd Future has to offer for a while now, despite having never released an actual full length project but has featured heavily on group projects and on releases from his Golf Wang family. Featuring Tyler, The Creator, Casey Veggies, Vince Staples, Mac Miller and even Wu- Tang abbot RZA, the 15 track album offers up a plethora of styles and flows and includes singles 'Hive' and 'Whoa'. We think this could be one of the best albums of the year, but what do you think?

Hottie of the Week - Lake Bell!

Image
This weeks hottie is the sultry brunette Lake Bell! The actress, writer and director is set to release her feature length writing, directing and producing debut next month with 'In a World...', a film which follows a young woman doing voice-over work for film trailers. Lake Bell is no stranger to the big screen, with roles in films such as 'No Strings Attached', 'Its Complicated' and 'What Happens in Vegas' but I would hope that most people who read this blog would recognise her from the HBO TV show, 'How to Make it in America'. She also appears on the cover of the latest New York Magazine in a particularly awesome shoot, wearing nothing but a painted tattoo drawn by tattoo artist - and her new husband - Scott Campbell. Go and check out her new film if you can and definitely check out 'How to Make it in America' if you even have a remote interest in the clothing business....and also because Lake Bell is really fit!...
