Carrier Goods - Brand Profile

Image
In 2020, two designers and outdoor lovers founded Carrier Goods. The creator's intense love of the outdoor gave birth to the business. Carrier Goods combines innovation and distributive approach with research and design and function, blurring the distinction between indoors and outdoors.   The brand dismantles the conventional definitions of what constitutes street wear and what constitutes outdoor apparel. With utility and contemporary design at the center of Carrier Goods DNA, a collection of winterized basics that are created using air light water resistant materials, stretch nylons, and breathable rip stops. The loose Alpine pants are coupled with silhouettes that evoke vintage ski wear and include exquisite movement elements and practical fastenings. Every shape is gender neutral and made to be worn and enjoyed by anyone. The boundaries between cities and environment are becoming more hazy as the need to discover one's "self" and "home" grows. I am exc...

Santa Cruz - Brand Profile

Image
The oldest continuously operating skateboard business in skating is Santa Cruz Skateboards. The company NHS was established in 1973 by three surfers who were also friends: Richard Novak, Doug Haut, and Jay Shuirman. NHS is an acronym for Novak, Haut, and Sherman. Due to the low profit margins from making surfboards, the startup company struggled to stay in business. However, unexpectedly, a friend from a Hawaiian company placed an order for 500 skateboards. Since they had an excess of fibre glass and few customers, they used the materials to fill the order, and the first Santa Cruz Skateboard was created in 1973. Santa Cruz Skateboards was founded after additional 500 boards were ordered after the skateboards quickly sold out.  The red dot and the Screaming Hand insignia are two of Santa Cruz's most recognizable marks. The very first logo that Santa Cruz ever used was the red dot. Jim Phillips and Jay Shuirman created the design. The Screaming Hand logo appeared soon af...

Pasta Del Capitano 1905 - Brand Profile

Image
The first toothpaste introduced in Italy in 1905 was Pasta del Capitano Original Recipe. It quickly gained notoriety for its distinctive flavour, which combines carnation, spearmint, and cinnamon leaves to give users a clean breath and a self-assured smile.  The reason this toothpaste became an instant hit in 1905 was its paste- like consistency. Until the beginning of the 20th century, teeth were brushed with tooth powder which was not always convenient in practice.  These toothpastes gain from the addition of organic mint and Sulfetal Zn, a zinc-based formula that delays plaque and tartar formation, inhibits microbial growth, and aids in the prevention of bad breath. The tubes are made with PBL, are entirely recyclable, and contain no aluminum. Excited to share that we now stock Pasta Del Capitano toothpaste, toothbrushes and chewing gum in store and on-line !

Donegal Socks - Brand Profile

Image
While I am away home (to Donegal) this weekend, I thought no better time than now to post about this.  Donegal   hosiery is located in Glenties, a lovely small town on Ireland's North West coast, encircled by the Bluestack Mountains.  For hundreds of years, the town of Glenties has been associated with the production of socks and knitwear. In reality, the film 'Dancing at Lughnasa,' starring Meryl Streep and scripted by Brian Friel, is based on the town of Glenties, where the Mundy sisters, who inspired the play and film, made living knitting socks for the local industries.   Socks from Donegal , Ireland are the one-of-a-kind end result of a family business that specialises in the production of traditional wool socks in Donegal tweed c o l o u r s . In the patchwork tapestry of colour that is Ireland's Donegal , the jagged patterns of mountains and moor merge with colours of the untamed sea and blue sky. People come from all over the world to find ser...

Napapijri - Brand Profile

Image
NAPAPIJRI - a Italian brand with a sort of a Finnish name, a Norwegian flag as its logo. It's known for its great selection of clothing accessories and footwear.  Fun fact: In Finnish, the word 'napapirii' means 'Arctic Circle', Napa means 'Polar' and 'Piiri' means circuit of circle. In 1987, an Italian travel bag manufacturer created Napapijri in the heart of Europe's tallest mountain, Mont Blanc. By fusing cutting-edge materials and meticulous attention to design, Napapijri gave outdoor clothing a whole new meaning. Inspired by the elegance of the century's greatest missions and the daring explorers who turned their lives into extraordinary trips. The original Bering Bag, which was our initial product and quickly became a mainstay, encapsulated this in a little over 60 centimeters of length. Design: Merging Italian design and outdoor function   Although the Norwegian flag can seem like a mystery, but the flag is a nod to the great Norwegi...

ORTLIEB - Brand Profile

Image
Discovering, traveling, cycling, being outdoors — that's where it all started. And that's what everything revolves around today with ORTILIEB bike bags. At ORTLIEB , that is what they work for every day. They want to reinvent themselves every day and develop products that meet the highest demands. Sewn products were the beginnings of ORTLIEB , when in 1982, Harmut started experimenting in front of his mother's sewing machine. The seams of the pockets were taped so that they were almost leakproof. However, this type of "waterproofness" proved insufficient for long and intensive use. That is why Hartmut Ortlieb introduced the, what is now-known as, high-frequency welding technology back in 1984.  Only products made with this special technology —including the weld seams— are absolutely waterproof up to 100,000 mm water column. A true technical milestone! For comparison: an average tent has a water column of 10,000 mm.     Adventure and discovering nature...

We are always trying to source eco friendly brands and Haeckels not only offer a great range of skin and self care products but they use all natural ingredients and are based locally within the UK.   Haeckels are driven by trying to solve the waste problem – be that through their use of waste natural resources in their products, or presenting packaging solutions to our community that are fully recyclable or compostable.      They use seaweed as the base for all of their products. That seaweed is picked by hand in Margate, UK. Why seaweed? Seaweed hydrates; it’s rich with valuable vitamins, minerals and amino acids; it’s anti-bacterial, skin rebuilding and anti-inflammatory; it’s all-natural, and all around us. Under licence, they harvest it by hand from the beach just steps away from their shop. What drives Haeckels forward is doing things differently and...

CoBags - Brand Profile - Copenhagen Bags

Image
With more and more people taking up cycling over the pandemic and fuel prices at a record high now is a good time to introduce COBAGS which offer a range of eco-friendly bags for convenience when cycling. With innovative design and problem focused mindsets they aim at developing products that make your life easier and safer with practical eco-friendly solutions. The brand began a summer day in Copenhagen. Being one of the leading bicycle cities in the world, the people of Copenhagen are no strangers to bicycling. It is said that most Copenhageners (yes that’s a word) can live their entire life on their bicycles.  However, on this fateful day Nikolai Gulmann noticed a pattern amongst  the  people biking by on Queen Louises bridge, one of the busiest bike paths in all of Copenhagen. He saw an abundance of “single use plastic bags” hanging from the handlebars of the bicycles. Heavy from being filled with groceries, the bags were knocking against...

YETI - Brand Profile

Image
In 2006, YETI Coolers was founded with a simple mission: build the cooler they’d use every day if it existed. One that was built for the serious outdoor enthusiast. One that could take the abuse they knew they’d put it through out in the field and on the water. One that simply wouldn’t break. They decided early on that product innovation would come from necessity and first-hand experience – not from market research and data analysis. Today, YETI products perform when it matters most - whether that be an excursion into the remote Alaskan wilderness, chasing redfish on the Gulf coast, or just getting together with friends in the backyard. Shop YETI Coolers online at Fat Buddha Store.

Bike Shed Motorcycle Club - Brand Profile

Since it’s inception in 2011, the Bike Shed has been a place of Common Ground, where people from all walks of life come together to share their passion for two-wheels, whether they ride a motorcycle of not. Björk and Berries - Brand Profile

Image
Björk and Berries began as a small local project in northern Sweden with the desire to preserve the magic of its nature, beauty, scents and healing properties. They took to the woods to hand-pick leaves and berries to capture the essence of the Swedish flora in their first natural perfume and with that, set the foundation for what Björk and Berries is today. Björk , the Swedish word for Birch, also known as the life-giving tree is our signature ingredient and a symbol of the unique nature where they also find other potent ingredients like sea buckthorn and blueberries.   In developing their products, they use the best nature has to offer and through the latest technology, transform it into luxurious formulas where texture, scent and performance are of equal importance. All Björk and Berries products are made in Sweden according to their ecoluxury criteria – kind to skin, nature and people.   Björk and Berries is owned by CEO Isabelle Lewenhaupt and her family. Brand Profile - Superga

Image
We have just welcomed back the Cotu classic from Superga in a range of new colourways and textural materials. One of the most wearable and all round classic silhouettes; this model has been a firm favourite of ours for years. In the spirt of this, in this post, we look back at Superga's extensive history. It's hard to believe that Superga is well over 100 years old. Under the care and attention of Walter Martiny in 1911, the Superga factory began to produce shoes with vulcanized rubber soles. It was here, in Turin, Italy, the Classic Superga 2750 heritage style was born. After closing during the war, the Superga factory reopened with a mission to bring high quality footwear to the people of Italy. The 2750 became established as the people's shoe of Italy, and Superga increased its product line with technical sport shoes, rubber rain boots and a growing range of colours and styles. The 2750 shoe has been an icon since the very beginning and has inspire...
