Central Market Glasgow
After opening it's doors to the public at the end of October last year Central Market in Glasgow has established itself as one of the best places to dine out in the city. A firm favourite with all of the staff here at Fat Buddha Store, and a true success with the public, the restaurant has put itself on the map in a matter of months. The cafĂ©, restaurant and deli opened its doors on Bell Street in Glasgow’s historic Merchant City. Inspiration for the name was taken from the old fruit, vegetable and cheese markets which thrived in the area in the early 19th century and were referred to as the ‘central markets’.
The restaurants beautiful interior makes for comfortable eating, and if anything grabs you the minute you walk in the door it has to be the uplifting atmosphere. The restaurant serves up modern British food with great style. Chefs Andy Lambert and Neil Palmer have developed a menu which includes the very best in seasonal and sustainable produce. Plates include: grilled sardines, oysters, steak tartare, roast ling, ox cheek stew and Iberico pork shoulder steak. A sandwich menu is also available every day, all day. Andy and Neil previously worked at Urban Brasserie and Malmaison respectively, so the level of food to reach your plate is outstanding.
With 50 covers, Central Market Glasgow is open from 8am Monday to Friday; 10am on Saturday and Sunday. Appetisers are from £4.50 and plates start at £9. Wines have been carefully selected to match the food. Six ‘Wine Flights’ each consisting of three different wines in 100ml servings, allow customers to try a wider selection from the wine list. The deli area also sells the full wine list; artisan breads from Different Breid; coffee from Coffee Chocolate Tea, both local suppliers, and a range of oils and vinegars from A l’Olivier.
A great addition to Glasgow, and a real fresh feel and take on the city's ever expanding restaurant scene. From all the guys here at Fat Buddha Store, Central Market we salute you.
