Going Out - Ray Mang at Under The Hood

Under the Hood jump starts itself back into action this Saturday night (12th Oct) at the Basura Blanca club, downstairs in the caveaux of Glasgow's colourful Brunswick Hotel on Brunswick Street in the Merchant City.

The organisers have welcomed acts like Charles Webster, Moodymanc, Tim Paris and Ralph Lawson to Glasgow in the past and this month welcome one of our favourite producers and DJ's Ray Mang (Eskimo/Mangled/Disco Deviance)

This is a limited capacity event and is pay on the door only with a capacity limited to 120 persons. This is very rare opportunity to hear a DJ of distinct calibre and taste and one of the Uk's finest Disco Re-Editors pleasure your senses in the unique and special Micro-Club that is Basura-Blanca.

UK DJ/Producer/Remixer and all-‐round studio boffin (known to his mates as Raj Gupta) Ray Mang is definitely not a new boy on the Disco Dance scene. He landed his first 12” Number One in ’96 on Noid Recordings gaining widespread support in the clubs and on compilations. Over Seventeen years on it’s still a much sought after underground classic.

He went on to set up his own record label Mangled in ’98 unleashing a slew of well-‐received and highly collectable 12” releases. Two albums followed ‘Mangled’ on Eskimo Recordings and later ‘Mangled Again’ on his own imprint along with singles on R& S, Bear Funk & Smash Hit. Recently his release on DFA saw his offer P-Funk with a Disco House twist made for the dancefloor (BulletProof feat the brilliant Lady Miss Kier) and a blissed out balearic stomper (Look Into My Eyes which featured on the Ministry Underground Disco compilation).

Add to this a list of other projects & collaborations through the years (including Block 16 and Motif for seminal 90’s UK label Nuphonic Records, working as Laj with the Idjut Boys on U-‐Star or Quakerman on their own Fiasco imprint) along with some close musical acquaintances (The Glimmers, Foolish Felix, Lee Tong, Nathan D’Troit) and you have one of the most prolific contributors to the Boogie/Disco/House canon this side of the nineties.

Mr Craig Moog will be on special warm up support duties. One of Glasgow's finest spinners, he has been a player in the Glasgow music scene for the last decade. He can be found playing a sound that takes in Disco, Italo, Cosmic, Electronic, Balearic, Psychadelic, Funk, Boogie and everything else in between. Djing with some of the greatest players in the Cosmic Disco/Nu Disco scene such as Pete Herbert (Reverso 68/LSB), Prins Thomas (Full Pupp), Rune Lindbaek (Noid), Optimo (Oscarr), In Flagranti (Kitsune), Richard Sen (Padded Cell), Shit Robot (DFA), Francisco (Jolly Music) and The Revenge (Jisco/Roar Groove)

If that wasn't sweeter enough, to top it off Mr Billy Woods (Supermax) will be playing in the Brunswick Hotel Bar upstairs from 9pm!
Sat October 12th - 9pm-late  This is a night not to be missed!
