Monday Music - D'Angelo and The Vanguard, Sub Rosa, Offbeat

This weeks Monday Music post brings you the lowdown for some of the top nights in Glasgow this week plus a look at the upcoming vinyl release of the highly acclaimed D'Angelo album, Black Messiah.

Holding down a weekly night is not an easy task, especially when your night happens to be on the armpit of the calender week, Wednesady nights. Giving a proverbial middle finger to tradition, the Sub Rosa boys, Spittal & Nowicki, manage to overcome their untimely obstacle by bringing in some of the biggest DJ's and producers going about, from big names including Breach and Ben Pearce to honouring local heroes such as Twitch and Harri. But in the true spirit of the Sub Club its the residents night that truly captures the soul of the weekly workout. This Wednesday at Sub Club

The Offbeat brand has become a Glasgow institution delivering top tier bookings to the young team of the city. From big names ranging from DJ Funk to New York Transit Authority, the monthly La Cheetah club night has been earned its permanent residency with honours. Witness the fitness this Friday from 11pm.

Lastly we have finally been blessed with a date for the vinyl release for one of last years most highly acclaimed albums, Black Messiah. Sneaking in at the tail end of 2014, D'Angelo returns to form with an album laden with top flight collaborations, a plethora of producer credits and of course all smothered and covered in liquid chocolate vocals from the man himself. Pre-orders available at phonica records today.
