How to Wear - Edwin Selvedge

Japanese imprint Edwin having been making premium denim for generations including a range of the most venerated denim, Selvedge. We stock several variations of the Selvedge in a range of cuts from regular to tapered to slim.

For the uninitiated Selvage is made using a loom that dispenses with modernized techniques to produce a classic artisan finish. Selvedge is often characterized by a denser weave that is tighter than their non-selvedge cousins. Selvedge by it's nature is finely bound at the edges and does not fray or unravel at the edges as regular denim often does. The “self-edge” is what gives the various distinct colours (red, white, rainbow), a practice fabric mills follow to differentiate between fabrics.

Below we look at how to style the various Edwin Selvedge:

White listed Selvedge is finished off with a White stitched turnup and is available in ED-55, ED-71 and ED-80. White listed selvedge is the most understated selvedge so we have teamed it up with Edwin's Marvin Tee in a muted colour palette of navy/white.

Red Listed selvedge is one of the most popular selvedge variations we stock and looks good with almost anything. We have teamed it with Edwin's pocket tee in grey allowing the Selvedge to hold the focus. Available in ED-35, ED-39, ED-55, ED-80 and Nashville.

The boldest and one of  our favorite is Rainbow Selvedge. The bright colours play well with bold patterns so we have teamed it Edwin's checked Labour Shirt. Rainbow selvedge is available in the following cuts: ED-47, ED-55 and ED-80.
