Make Noize Tour At Sub Club Glasgow

One of our favourite clubs here at Fat Buddha Store, the worldly renowned Sub Club welcome the Make Noize tour tomorrow night (Thu 22nd Nov). Make Noize has teamed up with Radio 1’s Benji B to bring the UK a club tour with a difference.  Tomorrow they are stopping off at Number 22 Jamaica Street along with Martelo and Conquering Animal Sound. This is a free initiative and therefore they expect no-one to pay for entry to any of the tour dates, instead they have urged fans to each bring along an unwanted electrical item and use that as their currency. This could be a broken hairdryer, a drowned phone, busted iPod or even a couple of old batteries – anything that’s electrical – and they will get access!

Incorporating recycling in every aspect of the project, Make Noize has partnered with local recording studios in every city featured on the tour, and for each item of old electronics that’s handed in on the door, ERP will donate £5 to the studios to go towards buying new equipment. It’s exactly what recycling is about, turning old, unwanted and sometimes broken goods into something new, more powerful and ultimately more useful.
Benji B
is one of the UK’s most respected DJs. Renowned worldwide for his radio shows and club sets alike, he’s amassed a fanbase who have come to see him as a leader in the future and soulful music movement, mixing the genres of hip hop, house, soul, funk, dubstep, and more, seamlessly taking his audience from one genre to the next.  For the past eight years he’s being doing his own show on BBC 1Xtra.  In October 2010, he made the move over to BBC Radio 1, where you can now catch him every Wednesday night / Thursday morning 2am - 4am.  Alongside his weekly BBC show on Radio 1 Benji has been running Deviation Sessions that is now widely regarded as one of the very best club nights in London.

Born in Jersey, and growing up in Glasgow’s Southside Martelo’s teenage years saw him delve into everything from punk and grunge to drum ‘n’ bass, garage and hip hop; an eclectic array of music that has no doubt had an influence on his music taste and DJ/production style. "I guess I play world music, but not the snobby stuff. Hood music from the global underground... From the favelas, to the projects, to the tower blocks"  (Martelo)

After making the move to London Martelo was part of the Sony/BMG street team and was DJing on promo tours for some massive live acts as well as holding down a weekly residency at Ministry of Sound and two shows on pirate stations all by the age of 20.  In the years since then he has become known as part of the YoYo family who consistently blow the roof off any party they throw, with Martelo being an ever-present on these memorable occasions. He has been the International Tour DJ for Santigold since 2007, as recommended by Diplo, and has played festivals all over the planet from Coachella (LA) to Summersonic (Japan) to Field Day (Oz) Glastonbury on several occasions.  Last year alone he was asked to open up for Jay-Z twice and was said to be a major highlight at the Exit festival in Serbia. He is also part of "The End Of The World" with Toddla T and Oneman.  Have a listen to his well renowned "Best Of The Noughties Mix"
which he put together for Radio 1.

Local Glasgow band
Conquering Animal Sound will also be performing.  These guys are wicked and have been making music together since 2009, we are looking forward to their live show ahead of their follow up album which coming out soon.

This should be a lot of fun and seen as it’s for a good cause, come and join them through till 3am. Remember to bring some electrical goods. Anything with a plug or a battery!
