Going Out - Pistols at Dawn Second Birthday Party with Balearic Mike - 24/01/2015

This Saturday sees Pistols at Dawn turn two years old and after all this time they are still bringing some of their favorite DJs to Glasgow. To celebrate the occasion they are bringing back their good friend Balearic Mike who kicked off their first event.

If you were in attendance at their opening party, then Mike will need no introduction. That party was genuinely special, with people dancing on tables, the club packed out til the lights came on at 3am and the revelers enjoying themselves so much that they almost drank the bar at La Cheetah dry (no mean feat).

If you are unfamilliar with Mike, he is a DJ who competely encapsulates what Pistols at Dawn is all about both as a clubnight and as a DJ collective. Unashamedly eclectic and completely focused on the dancefloor, Mike has a rare talent for picking the right record at the right time, which for us is the absolute most important skill a DJ must have.

His skills have seen him travel the world from NYC, LA and San Francisco to Athens, Ibiza and Croatia where he plays every year at the outstanding Electric Elephant Festival.

This year has also seen Mike and long term collaborator Kelvin Andrews release the second volume of their much celebrated Down to the Sea and back compilation series. The comp was voted compilation of the year by Picadilly Records who described it as " music so perfect, it lasts far beyond the moment." and "a perfect collection of forgotten gems, unheard marvels and pop oddities."

If you like the sound of this, then we highly suggest you purchase a ticket for this edition of Pistols at Dawn as it is sure to be one of the best yet. Advance tickets will be available early next week for £8 from Max's Bar and Tickets Scotland here, then it's £10 at the door on the night.

The last time Mike played La Cheetah had a full house, so advance tickets are advisable.
