Record Store Day

Today is Record Store Day, and what a great day it is. The day first came into being in 2007 when over 700 independent stores in the USA came together to celebrate their unique culture. The UK followed suit and 2013 will see the sixth celebration of the UK's unique independent sector. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, meet & greets with artists, DJ's, in store quizzes and many other events.

In Glasgow we are lucky to have some great independent stores such as Rubadub, Monorail and Avalanche, who have great events and guest DJ's playing in store today. Rubadub kick things off with their in store party featuring Container (Live), Trevino, Edit Select, Lover Rights, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and Freeman aka Scott Fraser, which looks set to be a cracker.

Monorail will also be getting into the spirit of things with a line up including Vic Godard & Sexual Objects play The Velvet Underground (live), W☮rld Peace (live), Ela Orleans (live), David Barbarossa Deejay (Wild Combination, Strange Paradise, etc.), Deena E. Jacobs DJ (Lady Squalor, Weirdo Wednesdays, etc.), Brogues DJ (Not Unloved) plus kid's face painting (between 12.00 noon - 2.00pm), home baking, positive vibes and of course, HUNDREDS of limited edition, exclusive Record Store Day releases. Get yourself out there and support record stores, from all at Fat Buddha Store we wish you a happy record store day 2013.
