Music Monday - Basement Jaxx!

English electronic music duo and all-around force of nature in the dance scene, Basement Jaxx, made a welcome return this weekend, with the leak of their new track 'What A Difference Your Love Makes', a precursor to a forthcoming EP, slated for September.

Consisting of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe, Basement Jaxx had been making waves in the underground house scene all through the early and mid 90's with their regular club nights in Brixton which featured guests such as DJ Sneak and Daft Punk.

In 1999, the duo released their first full length album titled 'Remedy' which featured the widely popular singles 'Red Alert' and 'Rendez-Vu'.

Their second full length 'Rooty', released in 2001, led to the groups first international hit with the single 'Where's Your Head At?', in part due to its inclusion on the Tomb Raider soundtrack.

'Kish Kash', the groups third studio album saw them work with the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Siouxsie Sioux and JC Chasez and garnered them a Grammy for 'Best Electronic/Dance Album'.

2006 saw the release of 'Crazy Itch Radio', their fourth studio album which featured Lily Allen and Robyn. Their fifth and sixth full lengths were both released in 2009, with the two originally slated to be a double album consisting of two distinct sounds, instead they released 'Scars' in June and 'Zephyr' in December.

So far this year, the group have released the track 'Back 2 The Wild' and more recently this new track 'What A Difference Your Love Makes', setting up the sound and teasing excitement for their forthcoming project.

We're feeling the disco house vibes here, what do you guys think, is this a return to prominence for one of Britain's seminal dance acts?
